Book Advanced Grinding Practice

Download or read book Advanced Grinding Practice written by Douglas Thomas Hamilton and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-07-19 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Advanced Grinding Practice: A Treatise on Precision Grinding Methods and the Equipment Used in Modern Grinding Practice Much has been published regarding the constructional features of different types and designs Of grinding machines, but there has been a lack of definite information on modern grinding practice. This treatise deals almost exclusively with subjects Of especial value to the user Of grinding machines. The chapters on Cylindrical Grinding, Form Grinding, Internal Grind ing, Surface Grinding, Cylinder Grinding, Crankshaft and Camshaft Grinding and Disk Grinding, all contain information that is fundamental and Of practical value to the man in the shop. Throughout the book there are many typical examples which indicate what can be done, by Showing what Izas been done. These examples are accompanied by data arranged in compact form and covering wheel and work speeds, grade and grain of wheels used, and other important points. Book Grinding Machines and Their Use

Download or read book Grinding Machines and Their Use written by Thomas Raynor Shaw and published by . This book was released on 2016-06-15 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Grinding Machines and Their Use: The Main Principles, Equipment and Methods of Precision Grinding Based on Long Experience in the Design, Construction, and Application of Grinding Machines; For Students, Mechanics, Designers, and Practising Engineers The Object of this book has been to embody in concise form the main principles of workshop precision grinding, and in the pages following will be found the results of many years' experience in the design and construction of grinding machines and close observation of their practical utility. The subject matter is the basis of a series of lectures on grinding machines given by the author at the Royal Technical College, Salford. The author hopes, however, that the book will prove helpful, not only to the technical student, but also to the fully trained engineer, because precision grinding plays such an important part in all engineering work that every engineer should be aware of its possibilities. It is hoped the book will not merely be perused and put aside, but that it will be studied carefully and a desire thus be stimulated for Closer acquaintance with actual grinding practice. In the space available it has not been possible to give complete details of machines, and the reader who desires fuller information on these points is referred to Grinding Machinery by J. J. Guest, and Precision Grinding Machines by the author. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Precision Abrasive Grinding in the 21st Century

Download or read book Precision Abrasive Grinding in the 21st Century written by Harry G. Sachsel, C.A.E. and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-08-10 with total page 680 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The writing of this book, Precision Abrasive Grinding in the 21st Century, began more than thirty-five years ago with the writing of “How To” technical briefs that went with our abrasive products so that one has a better understanding of the product and with the application could be better used. I continued to write “How To” technical briefs with and about new precision abrasive grinding products and systems. During the day, working on precision abrasive grinding applications, new ideas and information were learned. I wanted to retain this knowledge, so I decided to write the technical briefs. I wrote in the middle of the night. This was a great time to write down on a large yellow pad, my experiences of the day. This has continued for more than twenty years resulting in these two hundred sixty plus chapters and twelve sections. Unless one writes or records information, it can be lost or forgotten. In addition, you can learn more about the application and how to improve upon it by reviewing your notes and making changes. The chapters are not only a source of information for me, but now in book form, these can achieve abrasive product information for others. While writing about my precision abrasive application experiences, I wrote them in layman’s language so that all could gain and learn from me. Manufacturing, precision abrasive grinding, and life are a constant changing situation. So are the materials that are being used in all the new products. In the past, a simple metal product could be machined, heat-treated, and then ground if necessary, but now no longer is that true. Material science has developed new lightweight, hard metal, abrasive, ceramic, aerospace, medical, electronic materials that only abrasives can remove, size, shape, and finish. In the past, the use of abrasives and precision abrasive grinding was looked upon as an art . . . but not any longer as it has now become a true science. Here I’m in the year 2010 with all its problems and difficulties. War, unemployment, and all the other problems that you can think of, but here is one area with a bright light and that is manufacturing with precision abrasive grinding. It has to do with increasing productivity and making a better product at a competitive cost so that work once again comes back to USA. This will increase employment, productivity, profits, and make better products. This is why I’m having this book published. Harry G. Sachsel, CAE. E-mail: [email protected]
