Book General Practice Activity in Australia 2010 11

Download or read book General Practice Activity in Australia 2010 11 written by Britt Helena and published by Sydney University Press. This book was released on 2011 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book provides a summary of results from the 13th year of the BEACH program, a continuing national study of general practice activity in Australia. From April 2010 to March 2011, 958 general practitioners recorded details about 95,800 GP-patient encounters, at which patients presented 149,005 reasons for encounter and 146,141 problems were managed. For an 'average' 100 problems managed, GPs recorded: 69 medications (including 56 prescribed, seven supplied to the patient and six advised for over-the-counter purchase); 11 procedures; 23 clinical treatments (advice and counselling); six referrals to specialists and three to allied health services; orders for 30 pathology tests and six imaging tests. A subsample study of more than 31,000 patients suggests prevalence of measured risk factors in the attending adult (18 years and over) patient population were: obese - 27 per cent; overweight - 35 per cent; daily smoking - 15 per cent; at-risk alcohol consumption - 25 per cent. One in five people in the attending population had at least two of these risk factors. A companion publication, A Decade of Australian General Practice Activity 2001-02 to 2010-11 is also available.

Book Practical Electrical Testing

Download or read book Practical Electrical Testing written by George Dudley Aspinall Parr and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-26 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Practical Electrical Testing: In Physics and Electrical Engineering; Being a Suitable This work is intended to form a systematic course of instruction in "Electrical Testing" connected with Physics and Electrical Engineering. It is difficult, if not well-nigh impossible, to draw any distinctive line between a vast number of experimental investigations in that branch of Physics termed "Electricity and Magnetism" and the more elementary portions of Electrical Engineering. In fact, the latter may be regarded as the development of the former and almost entirely dependent on it. Thus the author has little hesitation in recommending the following course of experimental work as eminently suitable for constituting the electrical laboratory practice in the first and second years of a complete course in Electrical Engineering as well as in Physics. The author includes in a separate work, "Electrical Engineering Testing," a large variety of tests in advanced electrical engineering work, such as might well constitute the latter part of a complete course of instruction in this branch of industry. As far as has been practicable, the experimental investigations have been arranged in the order in which they may be worked, but exceptions have arisen owing to the advisability of keeping certain tests of a similar nature together. The arrangement adopted is in a measure similar to that which has been in use for some years past at the Central Technical College of the City and Guilds of London, but is a considerable extension of that arrangement.
