That's the hashtag that marked the start of this project. From the 356 to the 911 GT2 RS, from Porsche no. 1 to the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Executive, from Le Mans to the Nürburgring, from the Rallye Monte Carlo to Dakar, from James Dean and Hans Herrmann to Mark Webber and Neel Jani - this book retraces the rich and varied history of the Porsche brand and its models.Included in this book are all the sports car models as well as the race cars with which the brand has earned its laurels in sporting competitions. The visual story is told by means of unique photography of highly detailed miniatures in 1:43 scale, photographed in the actual surroundings be it at the Nürburgring, in Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Paris or any other place on earth. The camera used in all cases is an iPhone. The photos and the fascinating text were originated by long-standing motoring journalist, book author and communications professional Jörg Walz. His 'Instagram car park' has grown to become a unique automotive museum with space for more than 1,000 cars. A large proportion of this collection is showcased here in this unique book.

Book Targa Florio

Download or read book Targa Florio written by Pino Fondi and published by Nada. This book was released on 2006 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many years ago in Sicily, the legend of the “Coppa Florio” and “Targa Florio” road races became one of the most emotive and prestigious expressions in world motor racing, second only to the mythical Mille Miglia. “Coppa Florio” began in 1905 while “Targa Florio” in 1906, at the dawn of motoring civilisation and evolved over the years, hand-in-hand with the ever growing popularity of the car itself. The narrow and tortuous roads of the Sicilian mountains were testimony to the feats of Fiat, Bugatti, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Lancia, Ferrari and Porsche: manufacturers who alternated year after year at the top of the final classification of one of the toughest races in history, a race rich in allure and an ever present peril. On the occasion of the Targa Florio Centenary the book retraces this charming epics thanks to a vivid text and hundred of pictures, many of them unpublished. The work is complemented by a rich appendix (150 pages) reporting the complete results of all the Coppa and Targa Florio editions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Officially licensed with the ACO, the organisers of the annual Le Mans 24 Hours race, this sumptuous book is the seventh title in this decade-by-decade series and completes coverage of the endurance classic from its very beginning to the end of the 20th century. This title covers the nine races of the 1930s (no race was held in 1936) in which honours were divided between Italian, French and British manufacturers. Each race is exhaustively covered in vivid photographs, an insightful commentary providing more detailed information than has ever been published about the period, and full statistics. Compiled by an acknowledged authority of this legendary race, this series of books is treasured by all enthusiasts of sports car racing. In the 1930 race Bentley achieved its fourth consecutive success, Woolf Barnato and Glen Kidston the winning drivers in the very same ‘Speed Six' with which they had won in 1929. Two of Britain's greats of the era, Earl Howe and Henry Birkin, won for Alfa Romeo in 1931, beginning a four-race victory streak for the Italian manufacturer. Tazio Nuvolari, the outstanding Grand Prix ace of the pre-war decade, secured an intensely dramatic last-lap victory in 1933 in the closest Le Mans finish to date. Lagonda (1935) and Delahaye (1938) secured a win each, while Bugatti took two with the great Jean-Pierre Wimille driving its innovative Type 57 'Tank' cars, with all-enclosing bodywork. Highly detailed year-by-year treatment of the decade's nine races, giving unprecedented depth of information and photographic coverage for each year. Official status provides a number of unique features, including the reproduction of photographs and full-colour race poster artwork from the ACO's archives.Complete data for each year includes technical regulations, entry list, circuit changes (with diagram), full results and category awards. The whole work is beautifully designed and presented.

Book Mr Le Mans

Download or read book Mr Le Mans written by Tom Kristensen and published by Evro Publishing Limited. This book was released on 2021-05-18 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Between 1997 and 2014, Tom Kristensen won the world's toughest motor race, the Le Mans 24 Hours, a record nine times and finished on the podium on five more occasions. Every time his car made it to the finish, in fact, he was in the top three. It is no wonder that this great sports car driver is known as 'Mr Le Mans' to motorsport fans around the world. Now retired from racing, Kristensen shares in this book his deepest personal reflections and insights from inside and outside the cockpit. He looks back on more than 30 years spent striving for perfection in racing and tells of the battles and setbacks that sometimes seemed impossible to overcome, including a terrible accident in 2007. Climbing the racing ladder, from karting into Formula 3 single-seaters, including championship titles in Germany (1991) and Japan (1993), then Formula 3000 and a Formula 1 testing role with Tyrrell. Winning as an underdog on his first visit to Le Mans, in 1997 driving an elderly Joest-run privateer Porsche in which he impressed all onlookers with a night-time charge to vanquish Porsche's factory-entered favourite. His second Le Mans victory came in 2000 on his maiden drive for Audi in the R8, a car that was to become all-conquering. Kristensen won the next five editions of Le Mans, four times with Audi and once with Bentley (in 2003), his last victory in this sequence taking him past Jacky Ickx's previous record at the Circuit de la Sarthe. His eighth win came in one of the all-time classic contests at Le Mans, in 2008, a rollercoaster of a race in which his ageing diesel-powered Audi was never expected to beat the fancied works Peugeots. One more victory with Audi in 2013 sealed his reputation as a true legend of Le Mans. His story includes exploits at other racetracks all over the world, none more prolific than Sebring, home of America's long-established classic endurance race that Kristensen won six times. Personal reflections together with contributions from notable observers -- including English journalists Gary Watkins and Charles Bradley -- complete a truly rounded portrait of the man and his achievements. Voted 'Sports Book of the Year' when originally published in Kristensen's native Denmark, this thoughtful memoir is now available in English.
