Book Polarization Phenomena In Physics Applications To Nuclear Reactions

Download or read book Polarization Phenomena In Physics Applications To Nuclear Reactions written by Makoto Tanifuji and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2018-04-17 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book allows the reader to understand the fundamentals of polarization phenomena in a general spin system, showing the polarizations to be indispensable information source of spin-dependent interactions. Particularly, the book describes polarization phenomena in nuclear scattering and reactions in detail, and explains how they provide information concerning spin-dependent interactions between the related particles. The concepts of polarization observables are explained, explicitly in the scattering of protons, deuterons and 7Li nuclei. In looking at deuteron and 7Li scattering, interactions induced by the virtual excitation of projectiles are examined in detail. Resonance reactions are investigated, focusing attention on the polarization of observables, which suggests that polarization phenomena can be used to determine the spin parity of the resonance. It is noted that in few-nucleon systems, the discrepancy between the values of polarization observables based on theoretical models and the corresponding values obtained through experimental data, is an important problem to be solved in the future. Solving this problem should provide new knowledge concerning the nuclear forces between nucleons. The author has chosen open-access publishing for this book to allow any interested person to study this branch of nuclear physics.

This book was released on 1996-07-29 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 14th RCNP OSAKA International Symposium on Nuclear Reaction Dynamics of Nucleon-Hadron Many Body System was held in Osaka from December 6 to 9, 1995. The symposium covered current topics from Nucleon Spins and Mesons in Nuclei to Quark Lepton Nuclear Physics. Thus it included the field of hadron/nuclear physics from sub-GeV to multi-GeV energy region, as well as recent activities and development at RCNP. It was also intended to be a kind of winter school for young researchers/graduate students. This proceedings consists of the invited talks and lectures presented by leading physicists in the field and short oral presentations.

Book Zeptosecond Dynamics of Transfer Triggered Breakup

Download or read book Zeptosecond Dynamics of Transfer Triggered Breakup written by Kaitlin Jennifer Cook and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-08-28 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Combining incisive experiments with the latest theoretical advances, this book presents an extensive study of transfer-triggered breakup, the dominant process by which breakup occurs in reactions involving light, weakly bound nuclei. It demonstrates not only that lifetimes of resonant states shorter than a zeptosecond are crucially important for these reactions to suppress complete fusion, but also that such short lifetimes are experimentally accessible. By making quantitative predictions of the effect of breakup from short-lived resonant states on incomplete fusion at above-barrier energies, the book suggests that the extent to which near-target breakup can suppress complete fusion is much more limited than previously thought. With an impressive amount of complex data and state-of-the-art models, which were developed, modified, and tested over course of the Ph.D., it examines all aspects of nuclear reactions – nuclear models, modern detectors and spectrometers, as well as data analysis, and offers a detailed discussion of experimental results and technical developments like new radioactive beams. This excellent and beautifully written book presents outstanding quality experimental work that establishes a cornerstone in our understanding of the reaction dynamics of light weakly bound nuclei at energies around the Coulomb barrier.

Book Special Features of the Alpha Induced D and Polarized D Breakup

Download or read book Special Features of the Alpha Induced D and Polarized D Breakup written by and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The alpha induced deuteron breakup reactions have been of interest since the three-nucleon, nucleon induced deuteron breakup, problem was addressed with tractable and predictive codes based on the Faddeev formalism and with appropriate nucleon-nucleon forces. In this paper we discuss a few special features of the alpha induced deuteron breakup reactions. Specifically, we point out the importance of the n-p tensor force in the predictions of the three-body model that fit the tensor analyzing powers better and the concommittent deterioration of the fit to the vector analyzing power caused by the inclusion of the tensor force. We suggest that there exists evidence for the 1S0 n-p interaction, which is isospin forbidden, in both the cross section and spin observables data. Finally, we discuss certain characteristics of the p-.cap alpha. quasifree-scattering and n-.cap alpha. final-state-interaction processes.
