Download or read book Poems of Rajasthan written by Supriya Saxena and published by Book Bazooka Publication. This book was released on 2022-11-30 with total page 67 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poems of Rajasthan is a unique and probably the only published collection of travel poetry about Rajasthan, the largest and the most vivacious state of India, in English and Hindi. The book is written by Supriya Saxena, who grew up in Uttar Pradesh and currently lives in Navi Mumbai. Supriya’s interest in travel, especially in rural India, took her to Rajasthan where she spent ample time experiencing the culture and reading literature about the state. This collection of thirty-nine poems captures images from different aspects of Rajasthan, an amalgam of the poet’s thoughts and feelings related to the people, art and craft, rural life, the flora and fauna of the desert, architecture, food, ethnicity, misfortunes, and the current situation. The poems are written in English and Hindi with some usage of Rajasthani words. Translations and footnotes are provided wherever necessary. There are thoughts on a panihaarin (water bearer), the battlements of Mewar, the Gangaur festival, and Jaipur’s bazaars, to name a few. The poems are written in an easy-flowing narrative style and transcend through leisure-cum-art-cum travel reading. The colourful illustrations add a very immersive dimension to the writing and help the reader connect with shades of Rajasthan’s art and culture. Supriya’s poems create an arabesque of the innumerable miniatures that come together to represent the vastness of Rajasthan. The collection documents her love for this land and its people. The book can be a good companion for anyone travelling through the state or reminiscing memories about past travels. Or, for someone who simply wants to understand what makes Rajasthan so unique.

Download or read book The Sun On Paper written by Om Purohit Kagad and published by INDIA NETBOOKS . This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: FOREWORD ‘The Sun On Paper’is my English Version of selective poems in Rajasthani and Hindi, originally composed by Late Sh.Om Purohit ‘Kagad’. Om Purohit ‘Kagad, an educationist, poet, author and critic, both in Rajasthani and Hindi was an absolutely dedicated person to the cause of upliftment of Rajasthani. He wished to bring transformation in society and through his literary works massively attacked chaos prevailing in society and obsolete customs dominating society and hindering its progress. His poems cover a wide range of topics on burning issues. His poems are an expression of a human-being with a deep will to survive, to struggle and invoke others to struggle for change and to build a new society , full of hopes and aspirations. Perpetually interacting with life and the world, he established himself as a distinguished poet. He invoked masses to break shackles of old traditions and create new landmarks. But, Alas!, he could not accomplish his cherished goals due to his untimely demise in 2016, at the age of 57. Blossoms of affinity Bloom on plant of pang Whether these blossoms persist or wither Their sweet memories Shed fragrance in the orchard of life. I pray to Almighty that May his half cherished will to survive gets an accomplishment when ‘The Sun On Paper’ reaches voracious readers and his poems stir their mind! Om Purohit ‘Kagad ‘ was my facebook friend for nearly three years and chanced to meet him only once in life, when from Hanumangarh, he visited me in Bikaner at my residence. He presented me. Kagaz Pr Suraj’ his latest Poetry Book in Hindi and ‘Bhoht Andharo Hai’ Poetry Book in Rajasthani. He expressed his wish to get these poems translated by me into English. I am an ardent fan of his poetry. I assured him that I will do it in near future. His poems are enriched with deep perception, lofty ideas , sensibility and straightforwardness. I have put my best efforts to retain the soul of his poems, while translating in English. These poems, I have selected from his poetry books ‘Dhoop Kyon Chedtee Hai’, ‘Kagaz Pr Suraj’ and from Kavit Kosh. This task would not have been possible without consent and kind support of his wife, Shrimati Bhagvati Purohit and two loving daughter Bharati Vyas and Ankita Purohit. ‘Dhoop Kyon Chedhtee Hai’ was single copy available with Bhagwati Ji which she readily made available to me for utilizing for translation. Reputed literary icon, Dr. Neeraj Daiya, is also a motivational source behind this project. English Version of these poems will also enhance chances of its further getting translated in other Indian as well as international languages. I extend my heartiest gratitude to Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, reputed poet and Publisher of India Netbooks, for his constant association. This is my ninth book getting published from India Netbooks. Reviews and comments from dear readers are always appreciable. Thanks in anticipation. Rajni Chhabra Poetess, Polyglot & Numerologist

Download or read book The Poetry of Les Murray written by Laurie Hergenhan and published by Macmillan. This book was released on 2001 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Les Murray is acknowledged as Australia's leading poet; the one with the most substantial world recognition. Yet the criticism on his work has until now been commensurate with this reputation, both in bulk and quality. This ground-breaking collection of essays ranges across Murray's considerable output, examining its lyrical qualities and its remarkable linguistic inventiveness; its landscapes and 'soundscapes'; its biographical qualities; its underlying poetics and world view, from the mid length poems to the culminating verse, Fredy Neptune. Impressive in their depth as well as their coverage, these original essays reveal the riches of the poetry. Contributors include outstanding Murray scholars, new and well known, from overseas as well as Australia. Those interested in Australian and world poetry - teachers, students, general readers and historians - will find this volume an indispensable companion.
