Players Series: 1 Game On 2 Play Me 3 PlayMaker "This book was everything I thought it was going to be: fun, lots of sexual tension and great characters." - -SERIEous Book Reviews "Katie McCoy is the reigning queen of the subtle heart wrench; and by that, I simply mean that she lures you in slowly, garnering your focus to the big things that are right in front of your eyes, it's all smooth, light and the characters are in their own little self contained bubble and it is only when you are a couple of chapters in that you begin to realise that maybe things are not as serene and uncomplicated as they first appear, that there are more important issues." -- Nicole Mccurdy from Red Cheeks Reads "Told via Jake and Elle's alternating first person POV, this is a sweet and sexy, delightfully low angst, romance. Play Me is like chicken soup for the romantic soul! It's lighthearted and fun and will definitely keep you smiling....and salivating, both over that V on the cover as well as the images of Jake's gooey chocolate brownies." --Book Bosomed Blog "Jake and Ella are so hot together. The chemistry these two have would burn you. But they are more than that; they are the support they have always needed." -- Heather from goodreads.com

Book Play Me Something Quick and Devilish

Download or read book Play Me Something Quick and Devilish written by Howard Wight Marshall and published by University of Missouri Press. This book was released on 2013-01-01 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Play Me Something Quick and Devilish explores the heritage of traditional fiddle music in Missouri. Howard Wight Marshall considers the place of homemade music in people’s lives across social and ethnic communities from the late 1700s to the World War I years and into the early 1920s. This exceptionally important and complex period provided the foundations in history and settlement for the evolution of today’s old-time fiddling. Beginning with the French villages on the Mississippi River, Marshall leads us chronologically through the settlement of the state and how these communities established our cultural heritage. Other core populations include the “Old Stock Americans” (primarily Scotch-Irish from Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia), African Americans, German-speaking immigrants, people with American Indian ancestry (focusing on Cherokee families dating from the Trail of Tears in the 1830s), and Irish railroad workers in the post–Civil War period. These are the primary communities whose fiddle and dance traditions came together on the Missouri frontier to cultivate the bounty of old-time fiddling enjoyed today. Marshall also investigates themes in the continuing evolution of fiddle traditions. These themes include the use of the violin in Westward migration, in the Civil War years, and in the railroad boom that changed history. Of course, musical tastes shift over time, and the rise of music literacy in the late Victorian period, as evidenced by the brass band movement and immigrant music teachers in small towns, affected fiddling. The contributions of music publishing as well as the surprising importance of ragtime and early jazz also had profound effects. Much of the old-time fiddlers’ repertory arises not from the inherited reels, jigs, and hornpipes from the British Isles, nor from the waltzes, schottisches, and polkas from the Continent, but from the prolific pens of Tin Pan Alley. Marshall also examines regional styles in Missouri fiddling and comments on the future of this time-honored, and changing, tradition. Documentary in nature, this social history draws on various academic disciplines and oral histories recorded in Marshall’s forty-some years of research and field experience. Historians, music aficionados, and lay people interested in Missouri folk heritage—as well as fiddlers, of course—will find Play Me Something Quick and Devilish an entertaining and enlightening read. With 39 tunes, the enclosed Voyager Records companion CD includes a historic sampler of Missouri fiddlers and styles from 1955 to 2012. Book Playing with Myself

Download or read book Playing with Myself written by Randy Rainbow and published by St. Martin's Press. This book was released on 2022-04-19 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Instant New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestseller! An intimate and light-hearted memoir by viral sensation and three-time Emmy-nominated musical comedian Randy Rainbow that takes readers through his life—the highs, the lows, the lipstick, the pink glasses, and the show tunes. Randy Rainbow, the man who conquered the Internet with a stylish pair of pink glasses, an inexhaustible knowledge of Broadway musicals, and the most gimlet-eyed view of American politics this side of Mark Twain finally tells all in Playing with Myself, a memoir sure to cause more than a few readers to begin singing one of his greatest hits like “A Spoonful of Clorox” or “Cover Your Freakin’ Face.” As Randy has said, “There’s so much fake news out there about me. I can’t wait to set the record straight and finally give people a peek behind the green screen.” And set the record straight he does. Playing with Myself is a first-hand account of the journey that led Randy Rainbow from his childhood as the over-imaginative, often misunderstood little boy who carried a purse in the second grade to his first job on Broadway as the host at Hooters and on to the creation of his trademark comedy character. In chapters titled “Pajama Bottoms” (a look back at the days when he wore pajama bottoms on his head to pretend he was Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz), “Yes, It’s My Real Name, Shut Up!” (no explanation necessary...) and “Pink Glasses” (a rose-colored homage to his favorite accessory), Playing with Myself is a memoir that answers the question “Can an introverted musical theatre nerd with a MacBook and a dream save the world, one show tune at a time?”
