Download or read book Real Gas Flows with High Velocities written by Vladimir V. Lunev and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2009-06-03 with total page 751 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite generations of change and recent, rapid developments in gas dynamics and hypersonic theory, relevant literature has yet to catch up, so those in the field are generally forced to rely on dated monographs to make educated decisions that reflect present-day science. Written by preeminent Russian aerospace researcher Vladimir V. Lunev, Real Gas Flows with High Velocities reflects the most current concepts of high-velocity gas dynamics. For those in aviation and aerospace, this is a vital methodical revitalization and reassessment of real gas flows with regard to the physical and gasdynamic effects related to high-velocity flight, and, in particular, the entry of bodies into the atmosphere of Earth and other planets. Much more than just a manual on gas physics, this book: Analyzes fundamental challenges associated with super- and subsonic flight Describes the physical properties of gas mixtures and their associated high-temperature processes from the phenomenological standpoint Explores use of computational mathematics and equipment to simplify previously unsolvable problems of inviscid and viscous gas dynamics Explains why numerical methods remain inferior to analytical methods for creating a conceptual understanding of gas dynamic and other physical problems Avoiding older, cumbersome approximate methods, this reference outlines the general patterns and features of typical flows and how real gas affects them. Referencing simple, analytically treatable examples, similarity laws, and asymptotic analysis, the author omits superfluous explanation of reasoning. This valuable reference summarizes general theory of super- and subsonic flow and uses practical problems to develop a solid understanding of modern real-gas flows and high-velocity gas dynamics.
Download or read book Shock Compression of Condensed Matter 1989 written by American Physical Society and published by North Holland. This book was released on 1990 with total page 1050 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the most up-to-date collection of research activities in the area of high-pressure shock compression. Current reviews and original research papers are given on theoretical and experimental aspects of high-pressure equations of state, on dynamic plastic response and strength of solids, on numerical simulation and modeling of material response, on fast optical techniques and other advances in experimental technique, on laser-driven shocks, on material modification and shock-induced defects, on geologic and geophysical materials, on dynamic compaction and on modeling and behavior of initiation in energetic materials. Six plenary, 13 invited and 203 research papers are presented.
Download or read book Collision Phenomena in Liquids and Solids written by Alexander L. Yarin and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2017-06-15 with total page 629 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive account of the physical foundations of collision and impact phenomena and their applications in a multitude of engineering disciplines. In-depth explanations are included to reveal the unifying features of collision phenomena in both liquids and solids, and to apply them to disciplines including theoretical and applied mechanics, physics and applied mathematics, materials science, aerospace, mechanical and chemical engineering, and terminal ballistics. Covering a range of examples from drops, jets, and sprays, to seaplanes and ballistic projectiles, and detailing a variety of theoretical, numerical, and experimental tools that can be used in developing new models and approaches, this is an ideal resource for students, researchers, and practicing engineers alike.

Download or read book Interstellar Processes written by D.J. Hollenbach and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 817 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The idea for an international symposium on the interstellar medium was first discussed at the University of Wyoming during the summer of 1984. It was obvious that the outstanding natural beauty of the Teton mountain range in northwestern Wyoming must be matched by a meeting with the broadest appeal to the astronomical community. If the meeting was to produce a book, it must likewise be an important contribution to the astronomical literature. It was for these reasons that early in the discussions, it was decided that the University should host a "school". with the invited speakers presenting tutorials on a broad range of topics involving the interstellar medium. The symposium proceedings would then be a compilation of the written versions of these presentations. It has been nearly a decade since Lyman Spitzer published his classic text on the interstellar medium and we felt the need for a school and book that would focus on the recent developments in our understanding of the inter stellar medium. Thus, we view this two-volume set as an adjunct text to Spitzer's book.
