In accordance with the 7 workshops, the papers are organized in topical sections on grid computing and its applications to data analysis; Java technologies for real-time and embedded systems; modeling inter-organizational systems; regulatory ontologies; ontologies, semantics and e-learning; PhD symposium; and interoperability.

Book On the Move to Meaningful Internet Systems 2004 OTM 2004 Workshops

This book was released on 2004-10-14 with total page 905 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A special mention for 2004 is in order for the new Doctoral Symposium Workshop where three young postdoc researchers organized an original setup and formula to bring PhD students together and allow them to submit their research proposals for selection. A limited number of the submissions and their approaches were independently evaluated by a panel of senior experts at the conference, and presented by the students in front of a wider audience. These students also got free access to all other parts of the OTM program, and only paid a heavily discounted fee for the Doctoral Symposium itself. (In fact their attendance was largely sponsored by the other participants!) If evaluated as successful, it is the intention of the General Chairs to expand this model in future editions of the OTM conferences and so draw in an audience of young researchers to the OnTheMove forum. All three main conferences and the associated workshops share the d- tributed aspects of modern computing systems, and the resulting applicati- pull created by the Internet and the so-called Semantic Web. For DOA 2004, the primary emphasis stayed on the distributed object infrastructure; for ODBASE 2004, it was the knowledge bases and methods required for enabling the use of formalsemantics;andforCoopIS2004themaintopicwastheinteractionofsuch technologies and methods with management issues, such as occurs in networked organizations. These subject areas naturally overlap and many submissions in factalsotreatenvisagedmutualimpactsamongthem.

Book Perl for Web Site Management

Download or read book Perl for Web Site Management written by John Callender and published by "O'Reilly Media, Inc.". This book was released on 2002 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Checking links, batch editing HTML files, tracking users, and writing CGI scripts--these are the often tedious daily tasks that can be done much more easily with Perl, the scripting language that runs on almost all computing platforms. If you're more interested in streamlining your web activities than in learning a new programming language, Perl for Web Site Management is for you: it's not so much about learning Perl as it is about using Perl to do common web chores more efficiently. The secret is that, although becoming a Perl expert may be hard, most Perl scripts are relatively simple. Using Perl and other open source tools, you'll learn how to: Incorporate a simple search engine Write a simple CGI gateway Convert multiple text files into HTML Monitor log files Track users as they navigate your site Even if you don't have any programming background, this book will get you quickly past Perl's seemingly forbidding barrier of chops and chomps, execs and elsifs. You'll be able to put an end to using clunky tools, editing files tediously by hand, or relying on programmers and system administrators to do "the hard stuff" for you. Sure, you might learn a little bit about programming as well, and perhaps something about the role of open source tools on the Web. But the purpose of Perl for Web Site Management isn't to educate you--it's to empower you. Whether you're a developer, a designer, or simply a dabbler on the Web, this book is the plain-English, hands-on introduction to Perl you've been waiting for.

Book excerpt: Part of the fun of programming in Perl lies in tackling tedious tasks with short, efficient, and reusable code. Often, the perfect tool is the one-liner, a small but powerful program that fits in one line of code and does one thing really well. In Perl One-Liners, author and impatient hacker Peteris Krumins takes you through more than 100 compelling one-liners that do all sorts of handy things, such as manipulate line spacing, tally column values in a table, and get a list of users on a system. This cookbook of useful, customizable, and fun scripts will even help hone your Perl coding skills, as Krumins dissects the code to give you a deeper understanding of the language. You'll find one-liners that: * Encode, decode, and convert strings * Generate random passwords * Calculate sums, factorials, and the mathematical constants π and e * Add or remove spaces * Number lines in a file * Print lines that match a specific pattern * Check to see if a number is prime with a regular expression * Convert IP address to decimal form * Replace one string with another And many more! Save time and sharpen your coding skills as you learn to conquer those pesky tasks in a few precisely placed keystrokes with Perl One-Liners.

Book Sams Teach Yourself Perl in 21 Days

Download or read book Sams Teach Yourself Perl in 21 Days written by Laura Lemay and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 728 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ready-to-use building blocks for integrated circuit design. Why start coding from scratch when you can work from this library of pre-tested routines, created by an HDL expert? There are plenty of introductory texts to describe the basics of Verilog, but "Verilog Designer's Library" is the only book that offers real, reusable routines that you can put to work right away. "Verilog Designer's Library" organizes Verilog routines according to functionality, making it easy to locate the material you need. Each function is described by a behavioral model to use for simulation, followed by the RTL code you'll use to synthesize the gate-level implementation. Extensive test code is included for each function, to assist you with your own verification efforts. Coverage includes: Essential Verilog coding techniques Basic building blocks of successful routines State machines and memories Practical debugging guidelines Although "Verilog Designer's Library" assumes a basic familiarity with Verilog structure and syntax, it does not require a background in programming. Beginners can work through the book in sequence to develop their skills, while experienced Verilog users can go directly to the routines they need. Hardware designers, systems analysts, VARs, OEMs, software developers, and system integrators will find it an ideal sourcebook on all aspects of Verilog development.

The book includes coverage of CGI throughthe Perl CGI.pm module, as well as much additional information. You'll explore such topics ashow to send e-mail from a Perl program through Net::SMTP, how to use Net::DNS, and even howto use Net::Ping. You'll learn how to consume SOAPweb services, how to read and write RSS, and how to work with XML, all through Perl. What This Book CoversThis book attempts to give readers who have learned some Perl a grasp of the concepts andconsiderations for programming for the Web or creating a Perl program that interacts with thenetwork. This book is fairly Linux-centric. That's not to say that these programs won't run onaWindows platform--they will, with very little tweaking. The book is divided into five parts. The first part covers what comes to mind for many peoplewhen they think of Perl and web development--namely, CGI development and databaseinteraction. The CGI module is examined, and I present tips for programming CGIs, such as theCarp module for debugging. The second part of the book widens the focus into Internet interactionwith Perl. The Net:: family of modules is covered, along with the LWP for retrieving webpages through Perl. Coverage of XML and RSS make up the third part of the book, where you'lllearn about XML parsing through Perl, consumption of SOAP web services, and RSS feeds. Thefourth part of the book looks at mod_perl for development. The fifth and final part of the bookexamines templating through the Template Toolkit and HTML::Mason.
