Book Training for a Life Insurance Agent

Download or read book Training for a Life Insurance Agent written by Warren Murdock Horner and published by Theclassics.Us. This book was released on 2013-09 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can usually download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1917 edition. Excerpt: ... CHAPTER II Who Should Begin--When, And How I. Who Should Begin If the reader is impressed with the sentiment in the closing words of the preceding chapter, he then possesses one of the requisites of a Life Insurance agent. It is folly to engage in the work without a pulling at the heart-strings because of the great human side of the business, and unless there is a thorough understanding and appreciation of Life Insurance, as a world force, in its economic and beneficent relation to humanity. Too many young men waste time " feeling out" other people in choosing a vocation. If the advice of someone else is going to be taken on selecting a vocation, keep out of Life Insurance, because it has enough failures aboard already. It takes a little clear grit to break into the Life Insurance profession--it is no place for a molly-coddle. Then, in seeking the opinion of others, much misinformation is acquired, as there are many individuals, glib of tongue but void of understanding, who scoff at the business as a vocation. Self-analysis should be used liberally, in selecting one's life work, as to disposition and capabilities. However, many persons carry self-analysis and inquiry beyond the necessary limits of reason. By the same token that a person can do some one thing successfully, he can do some other thing creditably, with the application of the same amount of energy and enterprise. It is not the intention to convey the idea that a good blacksmith would make a painter of works of art, and so on, but, outside the fine arts and major professions, the rule laid down does apply. Life Insurance, as a vocation, is properly classed in a twilight zone between a profession and ordinary business, embracing, as it does, the attributes and opportunities of...

Glazer begins by discussing some of the more commonly overlooked yet widely acknowledged issues associated with office life in any industry, tackling subjects that include each of the following: Dealing with the conflicts created by co-workers Working under an inefficient organizational structure Avoiding office politics Understanding the importance of being perceptive in office culture In addition to these common issues encountered as a part of daily office life, Glazer also delves deeply into some of the more practical concerns associated with the insurance industry in particular. Devoting a chapter to a discussion of how to find the right professional niche, Glazer offers insight into how she was able to find a field that wound up bringing her a great deal of personal and professional life satisfaction. Sharing stories of how her career provided countless opportunities for traveling abroad, Glazer is the perfect example of a professional who understands that there are more important considerations to account for beyond just financial compensation. Book Benchmarking Property and Casualty Insurance Firm Sales producer Training Practices in the United States

Download or read book Benchmarking Property and Casualty Insurance Firm Sales producer Training Practices in the United States written by William Yarbrough and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: The Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance industry is experiencing increasing competition from fewer firms fighting for decreasing premium growth. The nature of the industry creates limited opportunities for sustainable competitive advantage. Organizational competencies are arguably the best choice to pursue differentiation. Studies have concluded that training can be linked to firm strategy as a cultural, organizational, and financial performance enabler. The Sales/Producer role is unique in the P&C environment due to its virtual team composition, distribution channels, and historical attitude towards training opportunities. Traditionally, sales/producer training has been undervalued in the P&C insurance industry. By benchmarking industry training practices it may be possible to find trends of interest for firms looking to re-examine the value of its training programs. This survey of P&C insurance firm training professionals, coupled with other studies and professional interviews, identifies opportunities for firm differentiation. The evidence suggests that training impacts firm strategy as an inseparable component of an overall effort to build the effectiveness of virtual teams. With training as an enabler, cumulative efforts to partner with sales/producers become culture. Firms appear more likely to motivate sales/producer resources to action, partner with sales/producers, and positively affect firm strategy when they take specific actions. These actions include creating synergies among the following: training evaluation, learning technology, resources outside the traditional training team, training methods physically and organizationally closer to sales/producers, sales skills as part of the technical/functional skills training offered, and training on firm culture/vision/values.
