Book North Sea Oil and Gas Reservoirs II

Download or read book North Sea Oil and Gas Reservoirs II written by A.T. Buller and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first North Sea Oil and Gas Reservoirs Conference was held in Trondheim in 1985 as part of the Norwegian Institute of Technology's 75th anniversary celebrations. Favourable reactions from the delegates prompted the Committee to re-run the event some three and a half years later, and it is now intended that the Confe rence be held on a regular basis as long as there is a demand for this type of gathering. The objectives of the 1989 Conference, which were broadly similar to those of the previous one, were: (a) to bring together those engaged in various geoscientific and reservoir engineering aspects of North Sea Oil and gas reservoirs in one forum; (b) to demonstrate wherever poSsible the interdependence of the various disciplines and specializations; (c) to promote innovative, synergistic approaches to research and development programmes aimed at North Sea conditions; and (d) to reflect current trends in the reservoir sciences. Naturally there was no place for specialist parallel sessions in a Conference aimed at encouraging interdisciplinary integration and awareness.

Book North Sea Oil and Gas Reservoirs III

Download or read book North Sea Oil and Gas Reservoirs III written by J.O. Aasen and published by Springer. This book was released on 1994-01-31 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Oil and gas have been produced from North Sea reservoirs for over two decades. The economic and technological challenges posed by the North Sea have necessitated a continuing development of refined geological and reservoir technical methods for reservoir evaluation and management. This book, which is the third in a series, brings together the specialists involved in this development in an attempt to summarize current knowledge of North Sea reservoirs and the techniques used to analyse their geological and fluid dynamic properties. Particular emphasis is placed on the interdependence of the disciplines involved in reservoir development and on synergistic approaches to reservoir research. Topics covered in this volume include detailed reviews of North Sea reservoirs, improved seismic methods for reservoir description, geological reservoir heterogeneity with special emphasis on fault modelling fluid--rock interactions and the near-well environment, geostatistical methods and reservoir simulation.

Book Petroleum Exploration and Exploitation in Norway

Download or read book Petroleum Exploration and Exploitation in Norway written by Norsk petroleumsforening. Conference and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1995 with total page 459 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This conference was arranged by the Norwegian Petroleum Society in order to commemorate the first 25 years of exploration on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Sixty papers and posters were presented of which 25 have been selected for this volume.Since the start of exploration activities during the mid 1960's the North Sea has not only proved to be one of the main petroleum provinces in the world, but has also established itself as an excellent laboratory for geoscientific research and application. This development has been stimulated greatly by the openess towards exchange of technical data encouragement by the Norwegian authorities. The objective of this book is to assess the results of 25 years of exploration in Norway. It focuses on lessons learned from past experiences as well as considering future challenges facing geoscientists in the industry (relating to both exploration and exploitation activities). Included, are papers which assess the status and future trends of exploration in the main geological provinces on the Norwegian Continental Shelf from the Central Graben in the south to Svalbard and the Russian Artic in the north.

Book Petroleum Geology of the North Sea

Download or read book Petroleum Geology of the North Sea written by K. W. Glennie and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-06-29 with total page 656 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the 3rd edition of this publication, emphasis within the petroleum industry has shifted from exploration to appraisal and development of existing hydrocarbon resources. This change is reflected in this new 4th edition, which has been significantly expanded to accomodate additional material. The centrepiece of the book, however, remains a series of descriptions, in stratigraphic order, of the depositional history and hydrocarbon related rock units of the North Sea.

Book United Kingdom Oil and Gas Fields

Download or read book United Kingdom Oil and Gas Fields written by G. Goffey and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2020-12-03 with total page 1076 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geological Society Memoir 52 records the extraordinary 50+ year journey that has led to the development of some 458 oil and gas fields on the UKCS. It contains papers on almost 150 onshore and offshore fields in all of the UK’s main petroliferous basins. These papers range from look-backs on some of the first-developed gas fields in the Southern North Sea, to papers on fields that have only just been brought into production or may still remain undeveloped, and includes two candidate CO2 sequestration projects. These papers are intended to provide a consistent summary of the exploration, appraisal, development and production history of each field, leading to the current subsurface understanding which is described in greater detail. As such the Memoir will be an enduring reference source for those exploring for, developing, producing hydrocarbons and sequestering CO2 on the UKCS in the coming decades. It encapsulates the petroleum industry’s deep subsurface knowledge accrued over more than 50 years of exploration and production.

Book Subsidence due to Fluid Withdrawal

Download or read book Subsidence due to Fluid Withdrawal written by E.C. Donaldson and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1995-03-29 with total page 519 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Subsidence of geologic surface structures due to withdrawal of fluids from aquifers and petroleum reservoirs is a phenomenon experienced throughout the world as the demand for water and hydrocarbons increases with increasing population growth. This book addresses the definition and theories of subsidence, and the influences of unique conditions on subsidence; it includes discussions of specific field cases and a basic mathematical model of reservoir compaction and accompanying loss of porosity and permeability. The book is designed as a reference for readers giving immediate access to the geological events that establish conditions for compaction, the mathematical theories of compaction and subsidence, and practical considerations of field case histories in various regions of the world.

Book Tertiary Deep Marine Reservoirs of the North Sea Region

Download or read book Tertiary Deep Marine Reservoirs of the North Sea Region written by T. McKie and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2015-11-02 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discovery of the Arbroath, Montrose and Forties fields initiated intensive exploration of the Tertiary deep-marine play in the North Sea region. Subsequent discoveries demonstrated the success of this play and the geological diversity of the depositional systems. The play is now mature and in many areas the remaining exploration potential is likely to be dominated by small, subtle traps with a major component of stratigraphic trapping. Economically marginal discoveries need an in-depth understanding of subsurface uncertainty to mitigate risk with limited appraisal wells. Mature fields require detailed geological understanding in the search for the remaining oil. This volume focuses on the regional depositional setting of these deep-marine systems, providing a stratigraphic and palaeogeographical context for exploration, and development case histories that outline the challenges of producing from these reservoirs. The fields are arranged around the production life cycle, describing the changing needs of geological models as the flow of static and dynamic data refines geological understanding and defines the nature of new opportunities as fields mature.
