Book Normal Injection in a Three Dimensional Laminar Boundary Layer

Download or read book Normal Injection in a Three Dimensional Laminar Boundary Layer written by Egon Krause and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Only within the last two years were approximate and exact numerical integration schemes developed by means of which the complete initial- and boundary-value problem for three-dimensional laminar boundary layers can be solved. The purpose of the note is to demonstrate the application of numerical solution to the case of normal injection in a three-dimensional, incompressible, laminar boundary layer. (Author).

Book Three dimensional Laminar Boundary layer Analysis of Upwash Patterns and Entrained Vortex Formation on Sharp Cones at Angle of Attack

Download or read book Three dimensional Laminar Boundary layer Analysis of Upwash Patterns and Entrained Vortex Formation on Sharp Cones at Angle of Attack written by John C. Adams (Jr.) and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Application of three-dimensional inviscid and viscous (laminar boundary layer) analyses for cold wall hypersonic flows over sharp cones at incidence is presented relative to experimental data, showing surface upwash angles and entrained vortex formation leading to crossflow-induced boundary-layer transition. Three-dimensional neutral inviscid stability theory for stationary disturbances is used to calculate the angular orientation of the entrained vortices in the boundary layer while a maximum crossflow Reynolds number concept is applied for correlation of the onset to vortex formation due to crossflow instability.

Book Small Cross flows in Three dimensional Laminar Boundary Layers with Suction Or Injection

Download or read book Small Cross flows in Three dimensional Laminar Boundary Layers with Suction Or Injection written by Y. Y. Chan and published by 1969.. This book was released on 1969 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three-dimensional laminar boundary layers with suction or injection are examined by using an approximate method based on a small cross-flow assumption. The basic equations are derived in detail and the computational method is developed. The method is tested against exact solutions and is found to be reasonably accurate. Two examples with the same external condition, but with different surface conditions, are analyzed. In one case the distribution of the normal velocity at the surface satisfies the similarity requirement and in the other case the normal velocity is constant over the complete surface. Although the results of these two cases are different in detail, the general trend of both shows that the three-dimensional behaviour of the boundary layer diminishes with suction and amplifies with injection. Book Three Dimensional Attached Viscous Flow

Download or read book Three Dimensional Attached Viscous Flow written by Ernst Heinrich Hirschel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-10-29 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Viscous flow is treated usually in the frame of boundary-layer theory and as two-dimensional flow. Books on boundary layers give at most the describing equations for three-dimensional boundary layers, and solutions often only for some special cases. This book provides basic principles and theoretical foundations regarding three-dimensional attached viscous flow. Emphasis is put on general three-dimensional attached viscous flows and not on three-dimensional boundary layers. This wider scope is necessary in view of the theoretical and practical problems to be mastered in practice. The topics are weak, strong, and global interaction, the locality principle, properties of three-dimensional viscous flow, thermal surface effects, characteristic properties, wall compatibility conditions, connections between inviscid and viscous flow, flow topology, quasi-one- and two-dimensional flows, laminar-turbulent transition and turbulence. Though the primary flight speed range is that of civil air transport vehicles, flows past other flying vehicles up to hypersonic speeds are also considered. Emphasis is put on general three-dimensional attached viscous flows and not on three-dimensional boundary layers, as this wider scope is necessary in view of the theoretical and practical problems that have to be overcome in practice. The specific topics covered include weak, strong, and global interaction; the locality principle; properties of three-dimensional viscous flows; thermal surface effects; characteristic properties; wall compatibility conditions; connections between inviscid and viscous flows; flow topology; quasi-one- and two-dimensional flows; laminar-turbulent transition; and turbulence. Detailed discussions of examples illustrate these topics and the relevant phenomena encountered in three-dimensional viscous flows. The full governing equations, reference-temperature relations for qualitative considerations and estimations of flow properties, and coordinates for fuselages and wings are also provided. Sample problems with solutions allow readers to test their understanding.
