If you have a few minutes to kill on the subway, need some entertainment before you fall asleep, or unexpected time on the toilet? Look no further. Brandee is here to share her shame with you. Stilwell realized early on some of her most humiliating moments in her life were the ones that resonated yet haunted her for years to come. They defined her. In None of this is Going According to Plan, Stilwell takes her readers on a mortifying and hysterical journey through her childhood in Kansas, her awkward goth teen years, to wearing her scoliosis back brace to parties at the Playboy Mansion, having diarrhea at the Emmy Awards while on a date with a writer from The Simpsons, to offering to dig up her boyfriend's grandmother's grave to get her dentures back into her casket, and sadly, many, many, many more stories along these lines.

Book The Callaghan Septology VII The Final Facedown

Download or read book The Callaghan Septology VII The Final Facedown written by Kim Ekemar and published by Bradley & Brougham Publishing House. This book was released on 2022-10-23 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To his great relief, Callaghan is declared innocent of the murder he has been charged with. After assisting the Metropolitan Police to expose the Russian Mafia’s operation in the UK, he returns to Australia. Meanwhile, the head of the Russian Mafia, in an attempt to get his former life back, decides on a clever, unconventional solution to hide from Interpol. When Dr Sternmacher calls Callaghan to warn him about an issue that can’t be discussed over the phone, he reluctantly accepts to go back to Europe. Callaghan eventually discovers that Mafia boss Vasily Ivanovich has adopted a new, foolproof identity. Next he learns that Vasily has abducted his wife Samantha in Australia. In exchange for her release, Vasily demands his immediate presence in Paris, leaving Callaghan with no choice but to accept. Then a shared, unexpected and terrifying event changes life for both of them, leading Vasily and Callaghan to face each other during a long, tense night. At dawn, they go separate ways, determined to find a way to bring each other one down – for good. KIRKUS REVIEWS A gangster seeks vengeance on Matthias Callaghan in the grand finale of Ekemar’s psychological-thriller series. After wriggling out of a murder rap and exposing the Russian mob in the United Kingdom, Callaghan heads back to Australia, where he feels safe building a new home for his family. However, his vengeful machinations, which involved taking on multiple identities over the course of the series, have had consequences that won’t allow him to rest quite yet. Ekemar’s solid character construction renders even the wildest plot twists wholly plausible. In addition to the main narrative, there are various side plots and personalities that add spice or complications as well as a number of inept crooks that lend the narrative some comic relief. It all leads up to a final confrontation between Callaghan and Ivanovich that’s exciting, poignant, and up-close and personal. Ekemar explores themes of identity as skillfully as a maestro, sounding notes of existential angst and potboiler-y excitement throughout. This final episode also nicely ties up the series’ loose ends in a satisfying climax. A thrilling ending to a multilayered seven-book saga that’s sure to be a hit with fans.

Shacago's determined to provide his family with the life that he's never had even if it means living vicariously through Rosé, who’s running the now successful Rosé’s Tattoo Shop. Stuck in a love triangle of her own is Rosé, the new “It” girl in the industry thanks to her blossoming relationship with boxing champion, Marquise Meriwether. Although Marquise is everything she could ask for in a man—he’s generous, makes legit money, and treats her like a queen—Rosé finds herself constantly worried about the woes of Shacago. It doesn’t help when Parai, the new girl at the shop, enters the picture trying to put them together when life and circumstances may have torn them apart for good. Soon Rosé has to make the choice: since love doesn’t pay the bills, does it matter where the money comes from? Humbled by an unlikely enemy, Xavier is scrambling to make up the bed of lies he's created. The sur-de-soi attitude he’s used to wreak havoc on the lives of his loved ones has come to a halting stop at the introduction of a weapon that no gun of his could ever kill. An envelope. More specifically—the envelope that holds the power to destroy not only his life, but the once unbreakable bond he shares with Shacago. With his lies catching up to him and the finish line nowhere in sight, Xavier is forced to man up and handle his problems like the beast he is or to drop down in defeat. Will Shacago have a second chance at love? Will Rosé accept that love doesn’t always come in the perfect package? Will Xavier lose his battle for the almighty dollar? Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With an Edwardian twist on The Tempest, and surprising, earthy, and magical qualities, this irresistible novel is set on the remote, divided Scottish island of Kissack and Skilling, one half of which looks historically and geographically towards Catholic Ireland, the other toward the Protestant north and Scandinavia. In the spring of 1903 a ship explodes as it docks on the island, drowning many of the passengers and crew in the icy waters of Stolnsay harbor. Young, strawberry-blonde-haired Billie Paxton is among the only survivors. Clumsy, illiterate, and suddenly alone, Billie will not say why, before the explosion, she jumped from ship to shore, and so falls under the immediate suspicion of her fellow passenger, Murdo Hesketh, and his cousin and employer, Lord Hallowhulme, who owns the island—and has controversial plans for improving the lives of its inhabitants. Gloriously inventive and vividly atmospheric, Billie’s Kiss conjures up a way of life hurtling toward a brave new world in an enchanting novel that brings together murder and eugenics, progress, prejudice, and the loss of innocence.
