Download or read book If I Did It written by The Goldman Family and published by Beaufort Books. This book was released on 2008-04-01 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All author royalties from the sale of this book are awarded to the Goldman Family. In 1994, Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson were brutally murdered at her home in Brentwood, California. O.J. Simpson was tried for the crime in a case that captured the attention of the American people, but he was ultimately acquitted of criminal charges. The victims' families brought a civil case against Simpson, which found him liable for willfully and wrongfully causing the deaths of Ron and Nicole committing battery with malice and oppression. Twelve years later, HarperCollins announced the publication of a book in which O.J. Simpson revealed how he would have committed the murders—under the pretense that his confession was “hypothetical.” In response to public outrage that Simpson stood to profit from these crimes, HarperCollins canceled the book. Just one year later, Federal Court Judge A. Jay Cristol awarded the Goldman family the rights to If I Did It. Thus began one of the strangest odysseys in publishing history. Originally written by O.J. Simpson, the Goldmans published a new edition of the book in the fall of 2007, which included essays written by members of the Goldman family, a member of the Goldman family legal team, and O.J.'s ghostwriter that reveal the fascinating story behind the bankruptcy case, the book's publication, and the looming court proceedings, which would eventually lead to his conviction. The book, called “one of the most chilling things I have ever read” by Barbara Walters, skyrocketed up bestseller lists across the country in the months following publication as the national media relentlessly covered O.J. Simpson's dramatic Las Vegas arrest for armed robbery and kidnapping. The Goldman family views the book as his confession and has worked hard to ensure that the public will read this book and learn the truth. This is O.J. Simpson's original manuscript with up to 14,000 words of additional key commentary from those whose lives were forever changed by the heinous crime.

Book My Life During the O J Simpson Trial

Download or read book My Life During the O J Simpson Trial written by Patrice Williams Marks and published by Circa Publishing. This book was released on 2016-04-20 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The words "Not Guilty" set one man free, but somehow made all African-Americans, no matter their varied opinions, the enemy. "... the defendant, Orenthal James Simpson, not guilty of the crime of murder..." The Trial of the Century had come to an end. The verdict hit the airwaves and the eyes of the nation descended on the city that made superstars out of attorneys. As an African-American recent college graduate living and working in the city, that verdict had a profound effect on me and the life I made for myself. The trial and the shocking verdict served as the impetus for what would be months of turmoil and unrest. Protests, debates, and incessant banter from both sides of the aisle permeated in our membranes. Lives were changed. Alliances were formed. Mistrust became the rule, not the exception. The words "Not Guilty" set one man free, but somehow made all African-Americans, no matter their varied opinions, the enemy. No one cared to seek our perspective. No one bothered to ask the right questions. We were clumped together as if our stories were one and the same. From the horrific Rodney King assault, to the unsettling residuum following the O.J. Simpson verdict, my life changed in profound ways. SCROLL UP AND BUY NOW. Keywords: O.J. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Defeated by Justice is a work of historically-accurate erotic fiction that is an assimilation of true events, probable hearsay and possible conjecture, as experienced by the writer. Set against the backdrop of South Africa in the early 1990s, with Apartheid in its final throws and society in turbulent transition from virtual dictatorship to democracy, Nicole Burger enters the South African Police Force, by necessity rather than design, to flee her own tempestuous and unsure personal circumstances. Intelligent, but naïve, she quickly has to learn to balance her morals with her need to survive, as she embarks on a self-discovering and often soul-searching journey in the employment of one of the last bastions of the Apartheid State. Adaptation becomes alteration and evolution becomes regression as she strains the boundaries of her sexuality and ethics in the sub-culture of this male dominated organisation. That is, until the system that she occasionally fails, eventually betrays and fails her, dramatically and completely.

A concluding chapter relates family assessment to treatment or intervention.

Book 2051 Books 1 3 War on American Soil

Download or read book 2051 Books 1 3 War on American Soil written by Dan Peavler and published by Living Springs Publishers. This book was released on 2023-03-30 with total page 788 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What would your family do if foreign powers used gangs to paralyze American cities and the heartland? What would your family do If EMPs knocked out power and society was on the brink of chaos? September 2049: Colonel Deb Lisco warns the Pentagon brass about pending threats to the security of the country from foreign enemies. They do not act on her warnings, but she does. She, along with her nephew Bill, create a safe haven in eastern Colorado where family and friends can shelter during the turbulence of the war she knows is coming. October 2051: American cities are invaded by foreign insurgents utilizing EMPs to knock out power, while homegrown rebels, on their payroll, fight the citizens to take control. 2051 is a novel about the Lisco family, who work together with friends, as the unthinkable happens, War on American Soil. It is a tale of the strength and resolve of the family as they struggle to endure the escalating threats. It becomes apparent that everyone will need to fight as the danger grows in ferocity and magnitude from enemy forces attacking from Mexico across the southern border. The passion and fighting spirit of Colonel Deb is illustrated as she battles to save the country from the approaching enemies, as her brother, Colonel Ted Lisco, fights the insurgents. Brothers Jon and Hank, along with the rest of the family and friends work to protect the farm and people who live there. The encounters the family have with strangers show the best and worst of the human spirit. Praise for 2051 2051 is a fast-paced and engaging read. I was immediately pulled into the story and drawn to the characters. It's an inspiring story of how people can come together to support one another during the most trying times. ~Stephanie Panion I read all 3 books in the series and couldn't wait for each to come out. Dan has an amazing ability to portray people, from the young Maddie to older people, all are believable. His respect for women and for family shines through, as well as his sense of humor. The books are well researched and definitely worth reading. ~Debbie Stewart Great easy reading book. I had a hard time putting it down. Love that the book talked about cars, trucks and guns from the past. Then what the future guns, cars and trucks may look like in 2051. Book presents women advancing in future and how the love of family helps keep everyone in the family safe. You see why we need a strong community to survive in disaster. Need for people to open up their hearts to create this community. Remembering that accepting all people and forgiveness is needed for a community to be formed and this community then is more powerful than its numbers suggest. - Mary Pint - An easy to read and interest grabbing book! While fiction, it is easy to see something like this happening. It makes you wonder if you shouldn't start "preparing" for such a catastrophic event... Highly recommend. The last book I tried to read I could only read for half an hour before needing a break. I read this in two nights. I found it to be one of those where you want to know how it ends and cannot wait to find out. - Dan D. Goodreads - I enjoyed the three books of 2051. I couldn't put them down. The author’s research was extensive, and the story is imaginative. -Steven Sievert Wow. This book shook me up a little. As a currently serving citizen Soldier, this hits on some fears I didn't know I had. We are now in an interwar period without a clear threat to be preparing to face. The American public has not taken the Russian chaos machine's influence on our social media and election seriously. We do not see how China is using our economic reliance on them to further its expansion. If things go wrong, the setting for this book could become real. - Goodreads review

Book A Victorian Somebody

Download or read book A Victorian Somebody written by Stephen Wade and published by Andrews UK Limited. This book was released on 2015-03-11 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 1880s, George Grossmith was the dazzling comic star of Gilbert and Sullivan's immensely popular Savoy operas. London theatregoers waited excitedly for the next production, knowing that George would be cast in the lead role of the ‘patter man'. He was also many other things in his life, including Bow Street court reporter, piano entertainer for high society, and in the 1890s, with his brother Weedon, the author of the humorous classic work of fiction, The Diary of a Nobody, which has never been out of print and continues to inspire other writers. In this fascinating book, Stephen Wade tells the story of Grossmith’s life, from Penny Reading entertainer to self-styled ‘society clown.’ A Victorian Somebody places him firmly in context, recalls the many friends and colleagues who worked with George, and puts him once again centre stage, exactly where he should be.
