In the first place, they consider it, if not absolutely essential, at least highly expedient for the members of the club that Its constitution, rules, and by-laws should thus be placed before them in a couve nient and readable form. They believe, more over, that the roll of membership, recorded in the following pages and gratifyin alike in its length and personal, wil not on y serve as a species of introduction between members, but will likewise induce, among them and among the public at large, a juster appreciation of the prominent stand which the club has now attained among the kindred social or ganizations of New Orleans. That the pres ent publication may contribute alike to its membership and to its prominence, is the belief and trust of the Committee. At all events, it is ever a leasant task to record and commem orate the istory of our successes, and to con gratulatc those who have divided with us the labors of an arduous beginning, and who must equally share with us the credit of a successful end.
