Book Netaji in Europe

Download or read book Netaji in Europe written by Jan Kuhlmann and published by Rupa Publications. This book was released on 2012 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On 19 January 1941, Subhas Chandra Bose escaped in disguise from British surveillance in Calcutta to Kabul. There, he established contact with the German and Italian foreign ministries, thereby beginning a long period of collaboration with the Axis Powers to counter British rule in India. This led to the setting up of the Free India Centre, the radio station Azad Hind, and the Indian Legion in which 4,500 Indian volunteers were trained by German experts to fight for the freedom of their nation. While his compatriots resisted colonial rule on native soil, Bose spearheaded the cause of freedom in Europe. Using Machiavellian tactics, he discreetly played the Axis leaders off against each other and courted considerable public favour through his transmissions on Radio Azad Hind.

Book The Essential Writings of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose

Download or read book The Essential Writings of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose written by Sisir K Bose Sugata Bose and published by . This book was released on 2022-08-31 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The popular perception of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is that of a warrior-hero and revolutionary leader who led a life of suffering and sacrifice and who during the Second World War waged a great armed struggle for the freedom of India. What is often forgotten is that the warrior paused between battles to reflect on and write about the fundamental political, economic and social issues facing India and the world during his lifetime. Despite being immersed in the tumult of the anti-colonial struggle, Bose in his writings delved back into India s long and complex history and looked forward to the socio-economic reconstruction of India once political independence was won. The ideas he put forward were the products of a philosophical mind applied to careful analyses of specific historical situations and informed by direct and continuous revolutionary experiences in different parts of the world, of a kind unknown to any other leader of contemporary India. Distilled out of a twelve-volume set of Netaji s Collected Works, this new edition of his Essential Writings is designed to provide a single-volume introduction to the thought of this revolutionary leader of India s freedom struggle on the 75th anniversary of India s independence and Netaji s 125th birth anniversary. This volume is indispensable for all those interested in modern South Asian history and politics as well as nationalism and international relations in the twentieth century.

Book Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose

Download or read book Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose written by Santanu Banerjee and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2018-02-10 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book tells the reader how after Second World War, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the tallest Indian freedom fighter, slowly petered out in captivity in former Soviet Union, while Kremlin, taking full military advantage of Bose's presence in their land created fear in American and British political and military strategists and among the post-Independence Indian politicians. The research has also been an outcome of British and Indian Government documents and long interviews with senior Indian political leaders. The book is extremely sensitive as the stakeholders are not only big global powers, but the unresolved issue involves the Indian Government which puts a lid on the mystery by sticking to the fake air crash story in 1945 in Taiwan. It is bound to stir up a lot of heat with scholars – especially among, the British, Indian and American, besides exposing the role of the Russians, Indian Communists and the Nehru family that still heads the Congress now. What began as a journey into the unknown, has culminated into this book, an attempt which has taken 32 long years for the author. The research also reveals Bose's socio-political ideology about which he spoke during his Tokyo University speech on the Indian Civilization and how India would have `socialism with a human face.' It also happens to be an issue so far neglected by scholars and historians.

Then there followed a revolution within and everything was turned upside down." The book recounts the development of the spirit of service, sacrifice and zeal for national liberation, which were the driving forces of his life.We hope this publication will gain wide circulation so that the spirit of Subhas Chandra Bose becomes the guiding light of the country's youth in these disturbing times.

Book Netaji Living Dangerously

Download or read book Netaji Living Dangerously written by Kingshuk Nag and published by AuthorsUpFront | Paranjoy. This book was released on 2015-11-18 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Did Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose die in an air crash in Taihoku (Taipei, Taiwan) on 18 August 1945? Was he sent off to Siberia by Joseph Stalin? Did he die there? Or did he escape? Or was he let off, eventually to make his way back to India? Was he the mysterious Gumnami Baba of Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh? If so, how did he find his way back? Why did Bose leave India when he did? Was it on account of his political approach, which was opposed by the then high command of the Congress party that wanted a quick transfer of power from the British? The past comes alive as journalist and author Kingshuk Nag seeks answers to these and related questions at a time when there is a considerable renewal of interest in Netaji’s fate with old records tumbling out, the latest being the declassification of 64 files on the subject by the West Bengal government. Will the Union government make public the records that it holds, as has been stated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi? Will the governments in Moscow and London be approached for new leads? Netaji: Living Dangerously is a riveting account of the life of one of India’s most charismatic leaders and an in-depth analysis of one of the world’s best kept secrets.

Book The Sign of the Tiger

Download or read book The Sign of the Tiger written by Rudolf Hartog and published by Spotlight Poets. This book was released on 2001 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Subhas Chandra Bose is among the most controversial figures of the Indian freedom struggle. 'The Sign Of The Tiger' unfolds those days of his political career, mostly unknown to Indians-when Netaji recruited Indian prisoners of war to form the Indian Legion under the aegis of the German army and describes how they fought valiantly against the British in the Second World War. Written from a German perspective, the book focusses more on Bose's political vision than on his magnetic personality. A refreshing and enlightening read, specially to all those interested in the mysteries of Indian freedom struggle and Bose's lesser known exploits.
