Download or read book Convective Heat Transfer Second Edition written by Sadik Kakaç and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1994-12-16 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Convective Heat Transfer presents an effective approach to teaching convective heat transfer. The authors systematically develop the topics and present them from basic principles. They emphasize physical insight, problem-solving, and the derivation of basic equations. To help students master the subject matter, they discuss the implementations of the basic equations and the workings of examples in detail. The material also includes carefully prepared problems at the end of each chapter. In this Second Edition, topics have been carefully chosen and the entire book has been reorganized for the best presentation of the subject matter. New property tables are included, and the authors dedicate an entire chapter to empirical correlations for a wide range of applications of single-phase convection. The book is excellent for helping students quickly develop a solid understanding of convective heat transfer.

Download or read book Natural Convection in Superposed Fluid Porous Layers written by Aniruddha Bagchi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-07-18 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Natural Convection in Composite Fluid-Porous Domains provides a timely overview of the current state of understanding on the phenomenon of convection in composite fluid-porous layers. Natural convection in horizontal fluid-porous layers has received renewed attention because of engineering problems such as post-accident cooling of nuclear reactors, contaminant transport in groundwater, and convection in fibrous insulation systems. Because applications of the problem span many scientific domains, the book serves as a valuable resource for a wide audience.
Download or read book Direct and Large Eddy Simulation XI written by Maria Vittoria Salvetti and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-02-02 with total page 562 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gathers the proceedings of the 11th workshop on Direct and Large Eddy Simulation (DLES), which was held in Pisa, Italy in May 2017. The event focused on modern techniques for simulating turbulent flows based on the partial or full resolution of the instantaneous turbulent flow structures, as Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS), Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) or hybrid models based on a combination of LES and RANS approaches. In light of the growing capacities of modern computers, these approaches have been gaining more and more interest over the years and will undoubtedly be developed and applied further. The workshop offered a unique opportunity to establish a state-of-the-art of DNS, LES and related techniques for the computation and modeling of turbulent and transitional flows and to discuss about recent advances and applications. This volume contains most of the contributed papers, which were submitted and further reviewed for publication. They cover advances in computational techniques, SGS modeling, boundary conditions, post-processing and data analysis, and applications in several fields, namely multiphase and reactive flows, convection and heat transfer, compressible flows, aerodynamics of airfoils and wings, bluff-body and separated flows, internal flows and wall turbulence and other complex flows.

Download or read book Numerical Simulation of Fluid Flow and Heat Mass Transfer Processes written by N.C. Markatos and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational fluid flow is not an easy subject. Not only is the mathematical representation of physico-chemical hydrodynamics complex, but the accurate numerical solution of the resulting equations has challenged many numerate scientists and engineers over the past two decades. The modelling of physical phenomena and testing of new numerical schemes has been aided in the last 10 years or so by a number of basic fluid flow programs (MAC, TEACH, 2-E-FIX, GENMIX, etc). However, in 1981 a program (perhaps more precisely, a software product) called PHOENICS was released that was then (and still remains) arguably, the most powerful computational tool in the whole area of endeavour surrounding fluid dynamics. The aim of PHOENICS is to provide a framework for the modelling of complex processes involving fluid flow, heat transfer and chemical reactions. PHOENICS has now been is use for four years by a wide range of users across the world. It was thus perceived as useful to provide a forum for PHOENICS users to share their experiences in trying to address a wide range of problems. So it was that the First International PHOENICS Users Conference was conceived and planned for September 1985. The location, at the Dartford Campus of Thames Polytechnic, in the event, proved to be an ideal site, encouraging substantial interaction between the participants.
