Download or read book United Republic of Tanzania written by International Monetary Fund. African Dept. and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2022-08-05 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tanzania’s economy is gradually recovering from the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. While IMF emergency financing (0.8 percent of GDP) in 2021 helped address fiscal pressures, preserve stability, and finance the authorities’ COVID-19 economic and health response, Tanzania continues to face development and reform challenges to unleash its economic potential. The authorities are seeking renewed Fund assistance to support the country facing protracted balance of payments needs associated with the two external shocks—the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine—and to support the authorities’ reform agenda summarized in their Five-Year Development Plan.

Book Gender Equitable and Transformative Social Policies for Post COVID 19 Africa

Download or read book Gender Equitable and Transformative Social Policies for Post COVID 19 Africa written by Julius Omona and published by Ethics International Press. This book was released on 2023-11-25 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the outcome of a detailed research study to examine the trajectories, processes and outcomes of education, health, employment, water, sanitation and hygiene social policies in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda, and to propose gender-equitable and transformative post COVID-19 social policy in these sectors. Though there is progress in varying degrees in these countries to attaining gender equity, there are still significant gender gaps in many areas. As well as examining the current situation, the study also plots progress longitudinally in 20-year periods from 1940 to the present day, and comparatively amongst the four featured countries. It provides both a rare and valuable historical study, as well as an up-to-date working policy framework. The research derives from the GETSPA (Gender Equitable and Transformative Social Policy for Post COVID-19 Africa) project, coordinated by the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana and conducted across the wider African continent. The book is a valuable resource for policy-makers at national and pan-national level, NGOs, and African Studies researchers. The study closely tracks the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), most particularly SDG 5 on Gender Equality, but also those dealing with Education, Employment, Health, and Water, Hygiene and Sanitation.

Book National gender profile of agriculture and rural livelihoods United Republic of Tanzania

Download or read book National gender profile of agriculture and rural livelihoods United Republic of Tanzania written by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and published by Food & Agriculture Org.. This book was released on 2023-03-30 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania recognizes that sustainable development cannot be achieved without attaining gender equality; hence, gender is mainstreamed in all sectors, including the agriculture sector. This commitment is reflected in the national Constitution, national strategies, plans and policies such as the Tanzania Development Vision 2025, National Five-Year Development Plan 2016/17–2021/22, National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty (NSGRP I and II), Women and Gender Development Policy of 2000 and the National Agriculture Policy of 2013. The agriculture sector employs nearly 66 percent of the workforce in the United Republic of Tanzania, thereby contributing to bringing the country closer to becoming a middle-income country. However, the sector, like all other sectors, is negatively impacted by the gender inequalities. To address the gender gaps in all sectors, including agriculture, the United Republic of Tanzania established the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MoHCDGEC) as the national institution to mainstream gender.

Book OECD Development Pathways Multi dimensional Review of Lao PDR Financing Sustainable Development

Download or read book OECD Development Pathways Multi dimensional Review of Lao PDR Financing Sustainable Development written by OECD and published by OECD Publishing. This book was released on 2024-06-06 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) has made significant headway on its development path over the past three decades. The country’s sustained economic growth has been led by booming commodity exports and substantial inflows of external financing. Many Laotians have seen significant improvements in their well-being. Poverty has declined as household income has increased, and many important development goals in education and health have been achieved. In the face of macroeconomic challenges, a shift from commodity-driven growth to a more inclusive prosperity paradigm that emphasises the creation of broad-based opportunities, human capital development and green sustainability can unlock Lao PDR’s future development. This report presents priorities for overcoming the country’s current fiscal constraints and finding ways to fund this shift. Recommendations address strengthening Lao PDR’s sustainable finance and debt management, revenue generation and tax reform, investment promotion, and data capacity in order to tap into green finance mechanisms.
