Book The Mothers and Daughters of the Bible Speak

Download or read book The Mothers and Daughters of the Bible Speak written by Shannon Bream and published by Broadside e-books. This book was released on 2022-03-29 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God always keeps His promises, but not always in the way we expect…. “Have faith” is a phrase we hear all the time. But what does it actually look like to live it out? In The Mothers and Daughters of the Bible Speak, Shannon Bream examines the lives of biblical women to see how God’s plans can turn our worlds upside down. She tells the story of Jochebed, a mother who took enormous risks to protect her son, Moses, from Pharaoh. Could Jochebed have imagined that God’s actual design for her son involved flight into exile and danger? And yet this was all part of the master plan to deliver Israel from slavery. Another biblical mother, Rebekah, made terrible choices in an attempt to ensure her son’s place in history. And a daughter, Michal, struggled to keep her faithless father, Saul, from sin, while battling pride in herself. Through these stories, Shannon explains the intimate connection between faith and family—and how God’s unexpected agenda can redefine the way we think about family. Not all of these mothers and daughters in the Bible were paragons of virtue. Like us, they were human beings who faltered and struggled to do their best. While some heard God’s voice, others chose their own paths. Through the lens of their imperfections, we can see how God used their stories to bring about His divine plans. He’s still doing the same work in our lives today. The Mothers and Daughters of the Bible Speak shows that faith is more often a twisting road than a straight line. Yet, as the stories of biblical families attest, at the end of these journeys lies greater peace and joy than we could ever imagine. Supplemental enhancement PDF accompanies the audiobook.

Book Rethinking Mary in the New Testament

Download or read book Rethinking Mary in the New Testament written by Edward Sri and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 2018-10-02 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scholars often have questioned how much the New Testament can tell us about the Mother of Jesus. After all, Mary appears only in a few accounts and speaks on limited occasions. Can Scripture really support the many Marian beliefs developed in the Church over time? In Rethinking Mary in the New Testament, Dr. Edward Sri shows that the Bible reveals more about Mary than is commonly appreciated. For when the Mother of Jesus does appear in Scripture, it's often in passages of great importance, steeped in the Jewish Scriptures, and packed with theological significance. This comprehensive work examines every key New Testament reference to Mary, addressing common questions along the way, such as: What was Mary's life like before the Annunciation? Is there biblical support for Mary's Immaculate Conception and Perpetual Virginity? Does Scripture reveal Mary as our spiritual mother? What does it mean for Mary to be "full of grace"? How is Mary the "New Eve," "Ark of the Covenant," and "Queen Mother"? Can Mary be identified with the "woman" in Revelation 12? Rethinking Mary in the New Testament offers a fresh, in-depth look at the Mother of Jesus in Scripture—one that helps us know Mary better and her role in God's plan.

Book Mom S New Testament Bible Stories

Download or read book Mom S New Testament Bible Stories written by Shirley Fillmore Ness and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2013-01-21 with total page 77 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Old Testament, we read how God made the heavens and the earth, the galaxies, animals and mankind. We see how man decided that he wanted to be his own God. Instead of obeying the creator God, he chose to disobey God and sold himself to sin, bringing sin into the world. How God promised that He would send a savior to buy people back from sin. The entire Old Testament is showing us the great lengths that God went to, to find the right time and the right people to be parents to his Son,whom He was sending into the world to be our Savior. The New Testament is Gods answer to our sin problem. God sent Jesus to become a man so we could see the face of God. Jesus shows us how much God loves us, enough to take our sins on himself and die in our place so we can be forgiven. Jesus wants us to learn to follow Him back to God, His Father. This book has stories from the New Testament about heroes and a few scoundrels to avoid. It repeats in places like the Gospels do, each seeing the same thing from a little differnt angle. My kids loved these stories. I think that your kids will love them too, Just tell, or read them these stories. Bible Heroes who stood up for God are the best heroes a child can have. Hearing about people who stood up for God even when things were hard, gives a child courage to stand up for what is right in his world today. Kids need heroes.
