Book Modeling Magneto rheological Damper Using ANFIS Method

Download or read book Modeling Magneto rheological Damper Using ANFIS Method written by Mohd Ridzwan Ramli and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 53 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis focused on the development Modeling Magneto-Rheological damper using Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) method. Magneto-Rheological (MR) damper is a semi-active control device and has been characterized by a set of nonlinear differential equations which represent a model of the MR damper. By using this mathematical model, the force of the MR damper is directly solved to a given displacement and applied current. However, solving the non-linear equations describing the performance of the MR damper may be difficult or time consuming to predict a required voltage. One of the methods to model the MR damper is using (ANFIS).It is faster than the mathematical model for keeping the error small. ANFIS has been effectively applied to model complex systems because of its great training process.

Book Modeling Magneto Rheological Damper Using Artificial Neural Network Method

Download or read book Modeling Magneto Rheological Damper Using Artificial Neural Network Method written by Farah Wahida Yusof and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study is to model magneto rheological (MR) damper using the artificial neural network (ANN) method. There are two ways of modeling the MR damper, but throughout this study the non-parametric model is being use. The method chosen is ANN method. The model of MR damper was simulated in Simulink® MATLAB. Firstly, the block diagram to simulate the MR damper was designed. Instead of designing the block diagram, the ANN coding was also being designed. Next, the simulation was run to obtain the damping force predicted by ANN method. The values of learning rates and weights were being tuned to obtain the desired result from ANN method. The result from ANN method was compared with the result collected from the actual experiment. As it is a model, so the exact value of damping force is impossible to obtain. The difference between the actual damping force and the damping force obtain by ANN method will be calculated by plotted the error. RMSE was used to visualize the error. However, at the end of this project period, the smallest value of RMSE was 3.320945. This RMSE value still large if compared to other previous research on ANN method use to model MR damper. The best model should have the minimum RMSE value around 0.018.

Book Modelling Magneto rheological Damper Using Radial Basis Function Neural Network

Download or read book Modelling Magneto rheological Damper Using Radial Basis Function Neural Network written by Mohd Fikri Arifin and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a study on modeling the MR damper using RBF. MR damper can be simplify as a damper that using MR fluids. MR fluid contains magnetic particles which will react to current flow when power is supplied. The viscosity of the fluid depends on the current flow. The stiffness of the damper depends on the fluids. This modeling is to achieve the similarity of the results of the experiment using proper machine and apparatus and by using MATLAB software. The data that are obtained from the experiment are used in the MATLAB software to generate graphs. The RBF equations are used in the m-file to get the similarity as the graph from experiment. Comparisons between the graphs are decided by inspection and the most accurate, by using the RMSE graph. The input in m-file is adjusted again and again to get the smallest RMSE as possible.

Book Comparison of Magneto rheological Damper Models

Download or read book Comparison of Magneto rheological Damper Models written by Javier Antonio Ruíz Cabrera and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The design of automotive systems is concerned with ride comfort and handling performance of the vehicle. In the last decade, semi-active suspension systems have been greatly analyzed for automotive applications as they offer the reliability of passive devices, but maintain the versability and adaptability of active systems. Semi-active Magneto-Rheological (MR) dampers present a viable choice for suspension systems. In an MR damper, the damping characteristics can be modified with the application of a magnetic field to the coil inside the tube of the device. Although MR dampers are greatly promising for the control of vehicle suspension systems, their major drawback lies on their non-linear and hysteretic behavior. This behavior makes it a challenge to developed a model for the system. Furthermore, the first step in designing a control strategy for a suspension system is modeling the behavior of the damper in an accurate manner. The present research is focused in the modeling of an MR damper. The problem statement is centered on what type of model of an MR damper can be developed, wich can accurately predict the highly non-linear behavior of the system and can be optimal for online control. For this purpose, various sets of experimental data were obtained from an industrial MR damper, Then, four state-of-the-art MR damper models were trained, analyzed and compared using quantitative and qualitative techniques. Each of the models was selected from four main modeling approaches, phenomenological, semi-phenomenological, black-box, and fuzzy-based. By the end of the research, a novel model for an MR damper was presented, wich combined fuzzy techniques with semo-phenomenological modeling. The results showed that the proposed structure was able to accurately predict the behavior of the MR damper and was suitable for control purposes. The final results can be greatly applicable to the automotive industry, where better comfort and handing control systems could be developed. In addition, the results could be useful to the vast number of industries and applications where MR dampers are employed.

Book Development of Experimental Model of Magnetorheological Damper for Semi active Vibration Control

Download or read book Development of Experimental Model of Magnetorheological Damper for Semi active Vibration Control written by S. M. Hasanul Banna Kasemi and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magnetorheological (MR) dampers offer solutions to many engineering disciplines ranging from automotive and civil engineering to biomedical engineering. Many efforts have been taken to model the MR damper and its nonlinear hysteresis phenomena. Although, some important mathematical models have been derived, some problems in implementing the MR damper in real application are yet to be solved. The car industries are growing faster and using modern technology to provide comfort to the passengers. Many control algorithms have been developed and opted to control the vibration of the car. The aim of this research is to use MR damper behaviour to implement a vibration controller. In this research, the methodology adapted to get a control structure is based on experimental results. MR damper is experimentally studied to investigate and establish its behaviour. Force-displacement and forcevelocity responses with varying current have been established to get the MR damper model. The force for upward and downward motions of damper piston is found increasing with current and velocity. In the cycle mode which is the combination of upward and downward motion of the piston, the force having hysteresis behaviour is found to be increasing with current. The energy dissipated is also found to be linear with current. Impedance (force/velocity) analysis has been done in this research. Impedance is found to be very high in low frequency and very small at high frequency. A proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller based on the established characteristics for a quarter car suspension model has been adapted in this study. A fuzzy rule based PID controller is opted to achieve better response for a varying frequency input. The outcome of this study can be used in the modelling of MR damper and applied to control engineering. Moreover, the identified behaviour can help in further development of MR damper technology. This behaviour is more practical as it is obtained from experiments.

Book A New Generation of Magneto Rheological Fluid Dampers

Download or read book A New Generation of Magneto Rheological Fluid Dampers written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The overall goal of this 3-year project was to study the performance of novel, fail-safe, magneto-rheological fluid (MRF) dampers by using innovative magneto-rheological (MR) materials for off-highway, high-payload vehicles such as the U.S. Army's High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV). In the past 3 years, significant advances were achieved in the following areas: (1) MR materials development; (2) theoretical modeling and experimental study of a new compact fail-safe MR damper, including the design and development of a full-scale prototype; (3) a full-scale experimental set up for quarter-HMMWV-models; and (4) control system development for the nonlinear MR damper system. A systematic approach was followed to unify all efforts for this integrated research. Several new MR materials were developed and characterized that could be utilized in two new MR dampers with the same overall geometric dimensions as a regular HMMWV damper. A unique full-scale experimental set up was developed and tested. Extensive investigation was conducted on an accurate control system taking into account variation of the MR fluid's base viscosity and temperature. A list of 31 publications and conference papers is included. (4 tables, 37 figures, 31 refs.).

Download or read book Hybrid Magnetorheological Damper written by Izyan Iryani Mohd Yazid and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A brief description about designing of Magnetorheological (MR) damper are described. MR dampers are semi-active suspension devices that use MR fluids to produce a controllable damper. The mechanical properties of the suspension can be controlled by adjusting the yield stress of the MR fluid. In this book, the design development for a new mixed mode MR damper with combination of shear and squeeze working modes was carried out. The magnetic field generated by electromagnetic coils in MR damper was analyzed using finite element method. The MR damper was designed and fabricated based on the simulation results. Combination of process parameters of working modes condition and applied current under quasi-static loadings were used in the experiments. Results, the unique damping characteristics of mixed mode MR damper was found where in general, a higher damping force has obtained in mixed mode than single mode. Eventually, the design of MR damper will provide an opportunity to study and consequently understand on how the MR fluids react to such operating condition in order to be realized in the MR damper.

Book Design and Implementation of Energy Generated Magneto rheological Damper for Vehicle Suspension Systems

Download or read book Design and Implementation of Energy Generated Magneto rheological Damper for Vehicle Suspension Systems written by Raju Ahamed and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magneto rheological (MR) fluid based dampers are very promising for semi-active or adaptive suspension control system which is filled with MR fluid. Its huge advantages attract the researchers to use it in more advanced application. MR damper's damping force can be controlled by changing the viscosity of its internal magneto-rheological fluids (MRF). However the requirement of external power source is one of the major concerns. Self-powered MR damper is one of the recent advancement which is accomplished only for double ended MR damper. In this work an energy generated mono tube MR damper has been designed and investigated with power generation which has a huge demand in the vehicle suspension system. This damper combines the advantages of energy harvesting (reusing wasted energy) and MR damping (controllable damping force). This multifunctional integration would bring great benefits such as energy saving, size and weight reduction, lower cost, high reliability, and less maintenance for the MR damper systems. The proposed MR damper model consists permanent magnet and coil combination of energy generation. Two magnetic fields are induced inside this damper. One is in the outer coil of the power generator and another is the piston head coils. A 2-D Axisymmetric model of energy generated MR damper is developed in COMSOL Multiphysics where it is analyzed extensively by finite element method and its hardware model is tested by Universal Testing Machine (UTM). The complete magnetic isolation between these two fields is accomplished here, which can be seen in the finite element analysis and damper characteristic analysis. The energy generation ability of the MR damper model is tested by UTM and oscilloscope combination and the maximum output voltage is measured around 0.8 volts by oscilloscope. Finally, experimental dampers characteristic analysis is performed by using RD-8041-1 MR Damper. These results are compared with the hardware model experimental results, which clearly validate the hardware model damper characteristic.
