Book excerpt: Notre étude multicentrique longitudinale prospective, menée sur 21 mois dont 12 mois d'inclusion, avait pour objectif dans un premier temps de caractériser l'échantillon, puis de tenter d'établir une relation entre la position initiale d'une canine incluse maxillaire et la durée du traitement pour sa mise en place sur l'arcade. Le protocole, s'appuyant sur la littérature, a inclu 104 patients, soit 130 canines. L'étude débute le jour de l'exposition chirurgicale de la canine et prend fin lors de sa prise en charge dans un arc rectangulaire. Les résultats montrent un échantillon majoritairement féminin et une prédominance de l'inclusion unilatérale. La mesure de l'angle alpha entre l'incisive latérale et la canine étudiée, oriente la durée de traitement qui varie entre 12 et 14 mois.

Book excerpt: La prévalence de l'inclusion uni- ou bilatérale de la canine maxillaire touche 1 à 2% de la population générale. Il existe plusieurs modes de prise en charge de ces patients, comme des traitements interceptifs ou des traitements chirurgicaux, permettant de résoudre dans la plupart des cas cette anomalie d'éruption. Toutefois les traitements sont généralement longs, pénibles, contraignants et coûteux. Mieux comprendre et mieux connaître les origines de l'inclusion de la canine maxillaire nous permettrait d'améliorer sa prise en charge. Depuis presque un siècle de nombreuses théories quant à leur étiopathogénie ont vu le jour, certaines ont été validées, d'autres réfutées. Nous savons que l'inclusion dentaire est une anomalie multifactorielle, avec une composante environnementale et une composante génétique. Nous désirons nous intéresser à ce deuxième paramètre. En effet dès lors qu'un patien est dépisté en cabinet comme présentant une inclusion de canine maxillaire, quelle peut-être la probabilité qu'un des membres de sa famille puisse présenter la même anomalie ? L'objectif de cette thèse a été de réaliser une étude épidémiologique intrafamiale chez des patients présentant une inclusion uni- ou bilatérale de la canine maxillaire. Ces patients ont été sélectionnés dans un cabinet libéral d'orthodontie. Ce type d'étude n'ayant pas été réalisé en France à ce jour, nous avons trouvé intéressant d'évaluer une éventuelle composante héréditaire dans l'étiopathogénie de la canine incluse maxillaire.

The volume aims to fill this gap by studying dynamic processes in the lexicon – understood in a wide sense as not being necessarily limited to the word level – by bringing together approaches directed to morphological productivity as well as approaches analyzing general types of lexical innovation and the role of discourse-related factors. The papers deal with ongoing changes as well as with historical processes of change in different languages and reflect on patterns and specific subtypes of lexical innovation as well as on their external conditions and the speakers’ motivations for innovating. Moreover, the diffusion and conventionalization of innovations will be addressed. In this way, the volume contributes to understanding the complex interplay of structural, cognitive and functional factors in the lexicon as a highly dynamic domain.
