Download or read book Memories of Forest View Gardens written by Trudie Seybold and published by . This book was released on 2017-09-12 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Memoirs of Forest View Gardens by Trudie Seybold offers a heart-warming and fascinating stroll through the history of the iconic Forest View Gardens in Cincinnati and its talented owner, Trudie Klos Russell Seybold. Trudie leads us from post-World War I Germany to the charming ¿chicken-dinner restaurant¿ her parents purchased in 1939. Renamed Forest View Gardens in 1941, and at the urging of friend and patron Dr. William Huebener, the restaurant took on the Bavarian flair many Cincinnati-area residents will remember. As an adult, Trudie¿s talents and her love of opera took her far from Cincinnati. Trudie taught music and sang ¿ and shared her mother¿s flair for cooking ¿ all across the country before returning to Forest View Gardens when her parents retired. Soon the restaurant featured a singing staff drafted from her beloved University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Within a short time, she and her new husband Kurt Seybold began holding their popular opera ¿galas¿ at the restaurant as well.Forest View Gardens closed its doors in 2001, but the Conservatory¿s Seybold/Russell Scholarship established by Trudie and Kurt in 1987 continues to nurture the next generation of musicians. With Memoirs of Forest View Gardens, the memories ¿ and the music ¿ live on.Special Bonus! Also included in the book -- a selection of wonderful recipes from the Forest View Garden's menu.

Book Hamilton County s Green Township

Download or read book Hamilton County s Green Township written by Jeff Lueders and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2006-10-09 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Green Township communities of Bridgetown, Covedale, Dent, Mack, Monfort Heights, and White Oak had their humble beginnings in 1809. By the early 1900s, Green Township was primarily a rural farming community. The advent of the streetcar, and eventually the automobile, made traveling much easier. New and improved roads and better cars in the 1930s and 1940s enabled workers to commute to Cincinnati or the industrial Millcreek Valley. With this growth, the west side expanded greatly with the building of new homes, schools, and churches. By 1940, there were 18,500 Green Township residents. By 1960, the number had grown to more than 37,300. The 2000 census listed 55,660 residents, making Green Township the second-largest township in Ohio.

Book Atlanta s Historic Westview Cemetery

Download or read book Atlanta s Historic Westview Cemetery written by Jeff Clemmons and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2018 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1884, several leading citizens purchased 577 acres to open Atlanta's Westview Cemetery. The rolling terrain, part of which was a site in the Civil War battle of Ezra Church, became the final resting place for more than 100,000 people. Prominent locals buried here include Grant Park namesake L.P. Grant, author Joel Chandler Harris, High Museum benefactor Harriet High, Coca-Cola founder Asa Candler Sr. and Havertys founder J.J. Haverty. The cemetery's Westview Abbey mausoleum is one of the nation's largest, with more than eleven thousand crypts. Throughout its history, Westview dabbled in other business ventures, including a cafeteria, a funeral home and an ambulance service. And for decades, the cemetery's Westview Floral Company sold flowers to lot owners and local businesses, leading to its own advice column in the Atlanta Constitution. Author Jeff Clemmons traces the complete history of this treasured necropolis.
