Book excerpt: We present measurements of the decays B[sup 0][yields] D[sub s][sup (*)+] D*[sup -], using data recorded by the BABAR detector in 1999 and 2000, consisting of 20.8 fb[sup -1]. The analysis is conducted with a partial reconstruction technique, in which only the D[sub s][sup (*)+] and the soft pion from the D*[sup -] decay are reconstructed. From the observed rates, we measure the branching fractions[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D[sub s][sup+] D*[sup -])= (1.03[+-] 0.14[+-] 0.13[+-] 0.26)% and[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D*[sub s][sup+] D*[sup -])= (1.97[+-] 0.15[+-] 0.30[+-] 0.49)%, where the first error is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is the error due to the D[sub s][sup+][yields][phi][pi][sup+] branching fraction uncertainty. From the[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D*[sub s][sup+] D*[sup -]) angular distributions, we measure the fraction of longitudinal polarization[Lambda][sub L]/[Lambda]= (51.9[+-] 5.0[+-] 2.8)%, which is consistent with the theoretical prediction, based on factorization. These results are preliminary.

Book excerpt: Preliminary results are presented on the branching fractions B (B[sup 0] --> D[sub s][sup *+]D[sup *-]) and B (D[sub s][sup +] --> [phi][pi][sup +]), based on a data sample of approximately 124 x 10[sup 6] B[bar B] events collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e[sup +]e[sup -] B-factory. B (B[sup 0] --> D[sub s][sup *+]D[sup *-]) is measured selecting neutral B meson decays to the final state D[sup *-]D[sub s][sup *+] with partial reconstruction of the D[sub s][sup *+], in which only the D[sup *-] and the soft photons from the decay D[sub s][sup *+] --> D[sub s][sup +][gamma] are reconstructed. The branching fraction product B (B[sup 0] --> D[sub s][sup *+]D[sup *-]) [center-dot] B(D[sub s][sup +] --> [phi][pi][sup +]) is measured via a complete reconstruction of the whole decay chain. Comparing these two measurements provides a model-independent determination of the B (D[sub s][sup +] --> [phi][pi][sup +]) branching fraction. The authors obtain the following preliminary results: B(B[sup 0] --> D[sub s][sup *+]D[sup *-]) = (1.85 [+-] 0.09 [+-] 0.16)%; B(D[sub s][sup +] --> [phi][pi][sup +]) = (4.71 [+-] 0.47 [+-] 0.35)% where the first error in each measurement is statistical, the second systematic.

They obtain?(B° → D*−D*{sub s}+) = (1.88 ± 0.09 ± 0.17)% and?(D{sub s}+ →??+) = (4.81 ± 0.52 ± 0.38)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.

They present evidence for the decay B° → D{sub s}− K*+ and the vector-vector decays B° → D{sub s}{sup *+}?− and B° → D{sub s}{sup *-} K{sup *+}, as well as the first measurement of the vector meson polarization in these decays. They also determine the ratios of the CM-suppressed to CKM-favored amplitudes r(D{sup (*)}?) and r(D{sup (*)}?) in decays B° → D{sup (*)}{sup {+-}}?{sup {-+}} and B° → D{sup (*)}{sup {+-}}?{sup {-+}}, and comment on the prospects for measuring the Cp observable sin(2? +?).

Signal events have been selected using a partial reconstruction technique, in which only the a[sub 1][sup+] and the slow pion ([pi][sub s]) from the D*[sup -] decay are identified. A signal yield of 18400[+-] 1200 events has been found, corresponding to a preliminary branching fraction of (1.20[+-] 0.07(stat)[+-] 0.14(syst))%.

Book excerpt: The purpose of this thesis is threefold: Firstly, new measurements of both the exclusive and semi-inclusive partial decay widths of $B^{0}_{s} \to D^{(*)+}_{s}D^{(*)-}_{s}$ meson decays are presented. Secondly, the feasibility of extracting the unknown polarization components in $B^{0}_{s} \to D^{(*)+}_{s}D^{(*)-}_{s}$ by partial reconstruction of this pseudo-scalar to vector-vector decay in a Monte Carlo driven analysis scheme is studied. Finally, based on the suggestions contributed by the theory community this study discusses how a measurement of the branching fraction of semi-inclusive decays $B^{0}_{s} \to D^{(*)+}_{s}D^{(*)-}_{s}$ can contribute to gain insight about the relative decay width di erence in the B$0\atop{s}$--B$0\atop{s}$ meson system.

Book excerpt: Using 5.2 fb[sup -1] annihilation data recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage ring while operating on the[Upsilon](4S) resonance, a sample of fully reconstructed B[sup 0] decays in the hadronic modes B[sup 0][yields] D*[sup -][pi][sup+] and B[sup 0][yields] D*[sup -][rho][sup+] have been reconstructed. In this paper, a study of these events is reported, including preliminary measurements of the absolute branching fractions for these modes, which are found to be B(B[sup 0][yields] D*[sup -][pi][sup+]= 2.9[+-] 0.3[+-] 0.3) x 10[sup -3] and B(B[sup 0][yields] D*[sup -][rho][sup+])= (11.2[+-] 1.1[+-] 2.5) x 10[sup -3].

Book excerpt: Presented is a precise measurement of the $ar{B}$0 → D*+l-$ar{v}$l branching fraction using 81.47 fb-1 of data collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- storage ring at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. The measurement was performed by partially reconstructing the D*+ meson from $ar{B}$0 → D*+l-$ar{v}$l decays using only the soft pion of the D*+ → D0?+ decay to reconstruct its four vector. The branching fraction was measured to be ?($ar{B}$0 → D*+l-$ar{v}$l) = (4.91 ± 0.01stat ± 0.15syst)%.
