Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The states of the world invest very much money for the construction and maintenance of roads since roads are considered very important in the transportation sector as an indispensable tool. Roads are used to transport goods and persons from one place to anotherSo the process of maintenance management for roads networks is considered very important because it needs various kinds of resources. This process must be completed with a very high degree of accuracy to achieve more profit of available resources and to keep on the acceptable level of service for these road networks.therefore, the significance of this book lies in dealing with an important area of the constructional and urban development, which is the flexible pavement maintenance operations.

Book Pavement Maintenance Effectiveness

Download or read book Pavement Maintenance Effectiveness written by Roger Smith and published by Strategic Highway Research Program (Shrp). This book was released on 1993 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study evaluated 6 specific preventive treatments. Four treatments are for asphalt concrete surfaced (flexible) pavements: chip seals; crack sealing; slurry seals; and thin overlays. Two treatments are for portland cement concrete surfaced pavements: joint and crack sealing; and undersealing. Performance of the pavement sections with the treatments was compared with the performance of a similar pavement section without the treatment. Performance is measured in terms of pavement distress, roughness profile, surface friction, and structural capacity. All of the flexible pavement test sections and most of the rigid pavement test sections have been constructed. Performance data are being collected. This report discusses the experimental design, project selection, construction, data collection, analysis, and future activities of the pavement maintenance effectiveness project.

Book Gravel Roads

Download or read book Gravel Roads written by Ken Skorseth and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this manual is to provide clear and helpful information for maintaining gravel roads. Very little technical help is available to small agencies that are responsible for managing these roads. Gravel road maintenance has traditionally been "more of an art than a science" and very few formal standards exist. This manual contains guidelines to help answer the questions that arise concerning gravel road maintenance such as: What is enough surface crown? What is too much? What causes corrugation? The information is as nontechnical as possible without sacrificing clear guidelines and instructions on how to do the job right.
