Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magic Moments as Paths Cross is a collection of true stories the author encountered that were too special to forget, teaching him about the importance of cultures around the world, introducing him to inspirational people, and exposing him to amazing situations. It was first written as a log for his children and grand children to inspire them to find their own magic moments in life, but he was encouraged to share it with others as a record of moments that should not be forgotten. History is full of them, everyone has them, but they often get lost. The real world with your magic moments is not on TV. They are out there waiting for you.
Download or read book Crossing Paths written by John Daverio and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2002-10-03 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Crossing Paths, John Daverio explores the connections between art and life in the works of three giants of musical romanticism. Drawing on contemporary critical theory and a wide variety of nineteenth-century sources, he considers topics including Schubert and Schumann's uncanny ability to evoke memory in music, the supposed cryptographic practices of Schumann and Brahms, and the allure of the Hungarian Gypsy style for Brahms and others in the Schumann circle. The book offers a fresh perspective on the music of these composers, including a comprehensive discussion of the 19th century practice of cryptography, a debunking of the myth that Schumann and Brahms planted codes for "Clara Schumann" throughout their works, and attention to the late works of Schumann not as evidence of the composer's descent into madness but as inspiration for his successors. Daverio portrays the book's three key players as musical storytellers, each in his own way simulating the structure of lived experience in works of art. As an intimate study of three composers that combines cultural history and literary criticism with deep musicological understanding, Crossing Paths is a rich exploration of memory, the re-creation of artistic tradition, and the value of artistic influence.

Download or read book SALUTE the Souls written by Dr. Kumar R. Bhushan and published by Chembila publications. This book was released on 2024-08-12 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Salute the Souls is a gripping exploration of human emotions, artistically weaving together various themes that resonate deeply with anyone who has ever loved. At its core, it is a heart-melting saga that delves into the rock-solid devotion to one's country, set against the intricate backdrop of love's ebbs and flows in the tumultuous sea of life. The story transverses through savage communal conflicts, leading to brutal massacres. This is not a usual account of a hero and heroine. All the key characters exemplify stirring acts of valor. At the heart of the story rests the untiring desire of the protagonists to join the ranks of the Indian Army. It is the zest that kindles brick-walled dedication and heart-rending sacrifices. As the plot unfolds, the pursuit of revenge transcends the ordinary call of duty. It introduces an element of intense drama, elevating the stakes and keeping readers on the edge of their seats. Throughout the narrative, courageousness takes center stage, as the characters go to great lengths to honor and uplift their nation. Salute the Souls creatively paints a rich landscape of emotions and serves as a tribute to the immortal sacrifices of the soldiers. It underlines a powerful message that communal riots and terrorism are the archrivals of humanity. The chronicle punctuates the idea that unity and collective effort have the potential to lead humanity toward a brighter and more harmonious future.
Download or read book The Last Druid Standing written by Dr. Larry S. Mellen and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2019-11-13 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Six thousand years ago, in the time before the first megaliths and stone circles, Druids appeared in small numbers throughout Europe. They began an inexplicable migration toward the Western Isles of Scotland. Among these was a Druid prophet, Lazwin. Lazwin predicted the coming of the Beltane child. The child would reunite the rune casters, gather the Druid faithful, and set in motion a series of events that would alter the history of Druid healing magic. Sadly, Lazwin's prophecies were lost to time. In 1820 a Druid child named Finn was playing near the Faerie Pools on Skye. He found a small opening behind a waterfall. Stored within this hollow were the perfectly preserved scrolls containing the prophecies of the elder Lazwin. This is the story of his prophesied Beltane child and his effect on Scottish culture. The pages describe the Beltane child's quest to many of Scotland's sacred sites and his travels around the world, meeting shamans and healers. They share his journey along the eightfold path and his understanding of herbal medicines and essential oils. You will learn of the child's discoveries on a bus trip from Kathmandu to London. In these pages, Dr. Mellen helps you realize there should be some reason for the things that have gone into making you you. If you have ever wondered, "Why am I here?" "Where am I going?" and "How am I going to get there?" Dr. Mellen provides you with a fresh perspective and some rather surprising answers.
