Book Low Cycle Fatigue Behavior Under Biaxial Strain Distribution

Download or read book Low Cycle Fatigue Behavior Under Biaxial Strain Distribution written by Joseph L. Mattavi and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The paper presents a linear cumulative damage theory, macroscopically considering elastic and plastic straining, and accounting for biaxiality through the von Mises theory for combined strains. Experimentation on SAE 4340 steel alloy supported this damage hypothesis and confirmed the associated exponential relationship between elastic strains with cyclic life and plastic strains with cyclic life. A limited evaluation of an aluminum casting material, C-355-T61, also supported this exponential dependency. Notching did not significantly alter this low cycle fatigue behavior. (Author).

Book Biaxial Multiaxial Fatigue and Fracture

Download or read book Biaxial Multiaxial Fatigue and Fracture written by Andrea Carpinteri and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2003-03-19 with total page 517 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The European Structural Integrity Society (ESIS) Technical Commitee on Fatigue of Engineering Materials and Structures (TC3) decided to compile a Special Technical Publication (ESIS STP) based on the 115 papers presented at the 6th International Conference on Biaxial/Multiaxial Fatigue and Fracture. The 25 papers included in the STP have been extended and revised by the authors. The conference was held in Lisbon, Portugal, on 25-28 June 2001, and was chaired by Manual De Freitas, Instituto Superior Tecnico, Lisbon. The meeting, organised by the Instituto Superior Tecnico and sponsored by the Portuguese Minesterio da Cienca e da Tecnologia and by the European Structural Integrity Society, was attended by 151 delegates from 20 countries. The papers in the present book deal with the theoretical, numerical and experimental aspects of the Multiaxial fatigue and fracture of engineering materials and structures. They are divided in to the following six sections; Multiaxial Fatigue of Welded Structures; High cycle Multiaxial fatigue; Non proportional and Variable-Amplitude loading; Defects, Notches, Crack Growth; Low Cycle Multiaxial Fatigue; Applications and Testing Methods. As is well-known, most engineering components and structures in the mechanical, aerospace, power generation, and other industries are subjected to multiaxial loading during their service life. One of the most difficult tasks in design against fatigue and fracture is to translate the information gathered from uniaxial fatigue and fracture tests on engineering materials into applications involving complex states of cyclic stress-strain conditions. This book is the result of co-operation between many researchers from different laboratories, universities and industries in a number of countries.

Book Biaxial Low Cycle Fatigue of Cr Mo V Steel at 538 C By Use of Triaxiality Factors

Download or read book Biaxial Low Cycle Fatigue of Cr Mo V Steel at 538 C By Use of Triaxiality Factors written by RH. Marloff and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Low-cycle strain-controlled hold-time fatigue tests were performed on 1Cr-1Mo-1⁄4V rotor steel at 538°C under uniaxial and plane-strain biaxial states of stress. Plain strain was produced by use of a blunt notched compact tension specimen. An inelastic finite-element analysis was used to relate strain at the base of the notch to the notch opening displacement. The results showed reasonable correlation by use of von Mises effective elastic and plastic strain components, with the latter modified by a function of the triaxiality factor. Published results for Cr-Mo-V steel at room temperature and elevated temperature for various biaxial stress conditions were examined in terms of the triaxiality factor-effective strain approach. Good correlation was obtained between predicted and measured life.

Book Low Cycle Fatigue and Elasto Plastic Behaviour of Materials

Download or read book Low Cycle Fatigue and Elasto Plastic Behaviour of Materials written by K.T. Rie and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 781 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1979 the first InternationalSymposium on Low CycleFatigue and Elasto-Plastic Behaviour of Materials was held in Stuttgart, FRG. Since then research in low cycle fatigue has proceeded rapidly. The vital interest of engineers and researchers in communicating the rapid advances in the ongoing research in low cycle fatigue has encouraged me to initiate again the Second International Conference which was held in Munich, FRG, 7-11 September 1987. Failure in low cycle fatigue represents a serious problem in the design and opera tion of highly stressed structures. Under complex loading and environmental cir cumstances, especially for high temperature services, reliable life prediction can not be expected without detailed consideration of the failure mechanism and with out extensive use of mechanistic approaches. The purpose of this conference was to provide a forum to discuss the advances in recent research in the field of low cycle fatigue. The conference was intended to help to further bridge the gap between those who are involved in basic research, and the engineers who have to perform the design of highly stressed structural components.

Book Method for Low Cycle Fatigue Design Including Biaxial Stress and Notch Effects

Download or read book Method for Low Cycle Fatigue Design Including Biaxial Stress and Notch Effects written by DC. Gonyea and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A design procedure for predicting low-cycle fatigue cracking is developed that is applicable for most mechanical and thermal cycling problems. Included in the procedure are effects due to stress risers and biaxial stress fields. Use is made of the uniaxial low-cycle fatigue curve and the "cyclic "stress-strain curve, both obtained from standard low-cycle fatigue testing. Major aspects of the analysis include an effective strain parameter which is employed as the cracking criterion and the use of Neuber's equation to estimate stress concentration effects. To illustrate the use and validity of the procedure, data from mechanically and thermally cycled grooved cylinders are presented and compare well with predictions.
