This book was released on 2018-12-17 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First Published in 1993 A Directory of Library and Information Software for Microcomputers has been published in four highly successful editions. The growth of interest in and proliferation of software packages in Europe has caused this new edition of the Dictionary to concentrate on the software that is both actively marketed in Europe and that has good back up support. The coverage is restricted to microcomputer software that is running under MS DOS/PC DOS, OS/2, UNIX, PICK and APPLE MACINTOSH operating systems. All software suitable for use in library and information work will be included, but not industry-standard word processing spreadsheets, accounts or other office administration systems. Coverage of Europe includes the 12 EC countries together in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Switzerland and Austria. More than 278 packages are listed originating from 299 suppliers. The European Directory is arranged in a straight alphabetical sequence by software name, indexed by country, by operating system and by supplier.

Download or read book European Communities written by John Paxton and published by Transaction Publishers. This book was released on 1992-01-01 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The establishment of the European Economic Community in 1958 was one of the most remarkable developments in the history of the post-World War II era. It aimed for nothing less than a complete economic union so that goods, people, and capital would be able to pass over national boundaries of member countries as freely as they move within any one country. As the Community's target date of 1992 for economic integration draws closer, the need for information, both current and historical, becomes more urgent. The aim of this annotated bibliography is to create a critical and descriptive list of books published mainly in English for businessmen and analysts, combining older publications with new. The literature on the EC is vast and issues The Community itself nearly 3000 publications a year. The range of material covered in this volume is distinguished by its great scope. Historical sections provide listings on the postwar years of economic recovery, the development of the EC, and biographies of the leading personalities involved. Policy-oriented sections encompass such subjects as labor, transportation, environment, energy, and education. The political ramifications of economic union, financial and fiscal affairs, relations between the EC and the Third World, and foreign relations in general are dealt with in separate sections. The volume concludes with a listing of major European Community publications. The sheer bulk of published material on the EC, much of it duplication, has made keeping up with its developments difficult for small and medium in Europe and elsewhere. This invaluable sourcebook will provide the business community and the political establishments with better access to EC information as they grapple with the implications of 1992.

This book was released on 2012-02-25 with total page 657 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The EU Services Directive is one of the cornerstones for the realization of the EU internal market and is fundamental to economic and legal experts in governments, trade and industry, as well as to the general public. This book analyses in detail the different steps taken by each of 26 EU Member States (all but Greece) in the implementation process of the Services Directive. It provides not only detailed information about the changes in national law adopted by the Member States, but also facilitates a comparison of the different implementation strategies. It gives an insight in the heterogeneity or homogeneity of implementation concepts and shows how European legislation affects legislation that was originally nationally dominated, such as the law of national administration. This book is valuable reading for academics interested in European and administrative law and the transposition of European directives into domestic law, as well as for practitioners and civil servants in ministries, chambers of commerce, local governments and other comparable institutions having to implement the Directive. Ulrich Stelkens and Wolfgang Weiß are both University Professors of Law at the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer and Ordinary Members of the German Research Institute for Public Administration Speyer, Michael Mirschberger (Ass. Jur.) is research assistant at both institutions.

Book excerpt: This book is a collection of essays that analyse and discuss EU information and communication policies and activities towards, with, by different publics developed both by the EU institutions at the European, national and local levels and by public organizations and civil society actors. Throughout six thematic parts, the authors examine from different theoretical perspectives (political communication, journalism, public relations and public diplomacy, political science, and cultural studies) and reflect on what it means for the European Union to communicate in multi-national and multi-cultural settings. The originality and strength of this book stand on the capacity to discuss EU communication policies, strategies and actions in their diverse features and, at the same time, to have a clear general picture of the role and function that communication has within the European Union’s governance. The combination of different theoretical frameworks with the latest empirical research findings makes this book a fresh and fascinated collection of insights of what the European Union can achieve with strategic communications.

OUiing 3 working days 26 reports were presented, 8 of them by, or in collaboration with, speakers from Kishinev. The reports arc presented in the order they were given at the Workshop. As the topic was rather wide-ranged, all the sittings were plenmy. The opening communication was made by the Mayor of Kishinev S. Urckian, who was the Chainnan of the Organizing Committee. It was followed by other reports of general orientation. The second half of the first day was devoted to the research results and problems of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. On the second day the Workshop was hosted by the Technical University of Moldova. At the beginning, the ceremonial sitting of its Scientific Council took place, at which two scientists were made doctors Honoris Causa of that University: Prof. K. Frolov from Russia and Prof. G.Parissakis from Greece. Then the plenary sessions continued. The round-table talk, held in the second half of the last day, appeared to be very fruitful. Download or read book Uniting Europe written by Albrecht Rothacher and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2005 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book sets out to give a straightforward insider''s account of the current realities of European integration. It succinctly reviews the reasons and methods of European integration, analyses what the European Union (EU) really does, and examines how funds are spent. The whole range of current EU policies is critically reviewed: the Single market; the Euro; and the common policies on agriculture, fisheries, the regions, industry, competition, transport, the environment, social affairs, consumer protection, research, taxation, justice, trade, development, foreign affairs and defence. This book argues for a much slimmed-down European executive. It needs to become fully accountable in a democratically legitimised bicameral federal system, and take charge only of policies essential for effective internal and external security and for a working economic and monetary union. To avoid policy paralysis and continued mismanagement by a redistributive and over-regulatory bureaucracy, most of the current OC low politicsOCO and EU funds should be returned to the member states and their regions. This book thus makes a long overdue informed contribution to the debate on Europe''s future constitution."
