The letter concerned a proposal from a bank that Thomas had received. Thomas informed Major Hinton that the proposal would be put before the Secretary of War, but that due to the large volume of business the Secretary had to attend to, the proposal probably would not be considered until the 15th or 20th. Thomas concluded by telling Major Hinton he would stop in Raleigh to arrange business and that he also had to go to Cherokee City to make payments.
