Book excerpt: La simulation et l'optimisation de la conduite des réacteurs chimiques se heurtent très souvent à la difficulté de disposer d'un modèle stoechio-cinétique de la transformation chimique mise en oeuvre. Dans ce travail une approche de représentation de type réseaux de neurones est proposée pour développer rapidement un modèle stoechio-cinétique à partir d'un ensemble de données obtenues par un suivi en-ligne des concentrations lors d'expériences réalisées en mode discontinu. Dans une première partie, nous avons développé la démarche dans le cas de la réaction équilibrée d'estérification du méthanol par l'acide acétique à partir de données obtenues en mode batch isotherme. Le modèle neuronal obtenu est formé de l'association de quatre modèles, chacun spécialisé dans la prédiction de l'évolution d'une espèce chimique. Par la suite, nous avons intégré le modèle neuronal développé dans une structure de simulation hybride et nous avons pu conclure qu'il pouvait permettre de transposer la réaction d'estérification d'un réacteur batch à un réacteur semi-batch ainsi qu'à un réacteur/échangeur avec écoulement piston. Dans la dernière partie de cette étude, nous avons repris la démarche de modélisation par réseaux de neurones pour l'appliquer à la réaction d'estérification de l'anhydride propionique par le 2-butanol, qui n'est pas équilibrée mais qui présente un comportement auto-catalytique. Le modèle obtenu a également été intégré dans une structure de simulation hybride qui permet de prédire l'évolution des différents constituants le long de la ligne réactionnelle lors de la mise en oeuvre de la réaction dans un réacteur/échangeur piston de type échangeur à plaques. Nous avons obtenu des résultats très satisfaisants qui témoignent de la faisabilité et la validité de notre démarche
