Book excerpt: LE DEVELOPPEMENT DE STRATEGIES DE CONDUITE DE FABRICATION EN TEMPS REEL PAR ORDINATEUR VISE, D'UNE PART A AMELIORER LA PRODUCTIVITE, ET D'AUTRE PART A OBTENIR DES PRODUITS D'UNE MEILLEURE QUALITE. JUSQU'ICI, LA MAJORITE DES REALISATIONS CONCERNE LA MISE EN UVRE DE TECHNIQUES DE COMMANDE LINEAIRE PREDICTIVE ET ADAPTATIVE. LE CARACTERE ADAPTATIF PERMET DE PALLIER L'APPROXIMATION DE LINEARITE DU MODELE EMPLOYE. UNE ALTERNATIVE EST D'UTILISER DES RESEAUX DE NEURONES COMME APPROXIMATEUR POUR DEVELOPPER UNE CONDUITE PERFORMANTE. UNE ANALYSE DES ARCHITECTURES NON BOUCLEE A ETE REALISEE AVEC COMME CRITERE CELUI D'UNE MODELISATION DYNAMIQUE DE REACTEURS CHIMIQUES. LES RESEAUX EMPLOIENT DEUX TYPES DE NON-LINEARITES QUI SONT LES FONCTIONS SIGMOIDE ET RADIALE DE BASE. LA RECHERCHE DE MODELE N'AYANT POUR OBJECTIF QUE LEUR UTILISATION DANS LA CONDUITE DES PROCEDES DE FABRICATION, UNE APPROCHE PREDICTIVE A MODELE NEURONAL A ETE TESTEE. ELLE CONCERNE TROIS PROCEDES ; LES DEUX PREMIERS SONT CONTINUS SIMULES, LE DERNIER EST UN REACTEUR PILOTE DISCONTINU. DANS TOUS LES CAS, LES PERFORMANCES DU PROTOCOLE A MODELE NEURONAL SE SONT REVELEES TOUJOURS SUPERIEURES OU EGALES A CELLE OBTENUES PAR DES METHODES LINEAIRES

Download or read book Mise en oeuvre de r seaux de neurones pour la mod lisation de cin tiques r actionnelles en vue de la transposition batch continu written by Mohamed Yessin Ammar and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book I am Not a Brain written by Markus Gabriel and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-09-18 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many consider the nature of human consciousness to be one of the last great unsolved mysteries. Why should the light turn on, so to speak, in human beings at all? And how is the electrical storm of neurons under our skull connected with our consciousness? Is the self only our brain's user interface, a kind of stage on which a show is performed that we cannot freely direct? In this book, philosopher Markus Gabriel challenges an increasing trend in the sciences towards neurocentrism, a notion which rests on the assumption that the self is identical to the brain. Gabriel raises serious doubts as to whether we can know ourselves in this way. In a sharp critique of this approach, he presents a new defense of the free will and provides a timely introduction to philosophical thought about the self – all with verve, humor, and surprising insights. Gabriel criticizes the scientific image of the world and takes us on an eclectic journey of self-reflection by way of such concepts as self, consciousness, and freedom, with the aid of Kant, Schopenhauer, and Nagel but also Dr. Who, The Walking Dead, and Fargo.

Book Conceptual Basis Formalisations and Parameterization of the Stics Crop Model

Download or read book Conceptual Basis Formalisations and Parameterization of the Stics Crop Model written by Nadine Brisson and published by Editions Quae. This book was released on 2009-01-19 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The STICS crop model has been developed since 1996 at INRA in collaboration with other research and technical institutes. The model syntheses, illustrates and concretizes an important part of the French agronomic knowledge as a point of view on the field and cropping systems working. The formalisations of the STICS crop model presented in this book can be considered as references used in the framework of crop sciences. The book arrangement relies on the way the model designs the crop-soil system functioning, each chapter being devoted to a set of important functions such as growth initiation, yield onset, water uptake, transformation of organic matter etc. One chapter deals with the cropping system and long term simulations and the final chapter is about the involvement of the user in terms of option choices and parameterization. If this book is mainly intended for scientists who use the STICS model, it can also be useful for agronomists, crop modellers, students and technicians looking for elementary formalizations of the crop-soil system functioning.

Book Cambridge Handbook of Engineering Education Research

Download or read book Cambridge Handbook of Engineering Education Research written by Aditya Johri and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2014-02-10 with total page 1124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Cambridge Handbook of Engineering Education Research is the critical reference source for the growing field of engineering education research, featuring the work of world luminaries writing to define and inform this emerging field. The Handbook draws extensively on contemporary research in the learning sciences, examining how technology affects learners and learning environments, and the role of social context in learning. Since a landmark issue of the Journal of Engineering Education (2005), in which senior scholars argued for a stronger theoretical and empirically driven agenda, engineering education has quickly emerged as a research-driven field increasing in both theoretical and empirical work drawing on many social science disciplines, disciplinary engineering knowledge, and computing. The Handbook is based on the research agenda from a series of interdisciplinary colloquia funded by the US National Science Foundation and published in the Journal of Engineering Education in October 2006.

Book The Foundations of Positive and Normative Economics

Download or read book The Foundations of Positive and Normative Economics written by Andrew Caplin and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2010-06-25 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Foundations of Positive and Normative Economics: A Handbook is the first book in a new series by Andrew Caplin and Andrew Schotter. There is currently no guide available on the rapidly changing methodological frontiers of the field of economics. Economists have been introducing new theories and new sources of data at a remarkable rate in recent years, and there are widely divergent views both on how productive these expansions have been in the past, and how best to make progress in the future. The speed of these changes has left economists ill at ease, and has created a backlash against new methods. The series will debate these critical issues, allowing proponents of a particular research method to present proposals in a safe yet critical context, with alternatives being clarified. This first volume, written by some of the most prominent researchers in the discipline, reflects the challenges that are opened by new research opportunities. The goal of the current volume and the series it presages, is to formally open a dialog on methodology. The editors' conviction is that such a debate will rebound to the benefit of social science in general, and economics in particular. The issues under discussion strike to the very heart of the social scientific enterprise. This work is of tremendous importance to all who are interested in the contributions that academic research can make not only to our scientific understanding, but also to matters of policy.
