It has made countless new businesses possible and presents a massive opportunity for large enterprises to innovate like startups and retire decades of technical debt. But making the most of the cloud requires much more from enterprises than just a technology change. Stephen Orban led Dow Jones's journey toward digital agility as their CIO and now leads AWS's Enterprise Strategy function, where he helps leaders from the largest companies in the world transform their businesses. As he demonstrates in this book, enterprises must re-train their people, evolve their processes, and transform their cultures as they move to the cloud. By bringing together his experiences and those of a number of business leaders, Orban shines a light on what works, what doesn't, and how enterprises can transform themselves using the cloud.

Book Hopelessly Hopeful During Separation 28 Daily Devotionals of Hope for Those Experiencing Marital Separation

Download or read book Hopelessly Hopeful During Separation 28 Daily Devotionals of Hope for Those Experiencing Marital Separation written by Mollie Bond and published by Ambassador International. This book was released on 2021-09-28 with total page 91 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: He’s gone. You’re separated and in the in-between season of marriage and divorce, where only a select few fully understand your struggles. In this season, when you don’t know what the next best step is and loneliness can overwhelm you, sometimes it is best to simply not take any step at all. Silently reflecting and turning to God in those quiet, doubtful moments can create hope and clarity that solidifies your next step; this is especially true when you are separated from your spouse. Unlike so many books with opinions on whether divorce or reconciliation is the answer, Hopelessly Hopeful During Separation: 28 Daily Devotionals of Hope for Those Experiencing Marital Separation instead speaks words of hope with no judgment on what you decide to do next. In this season of separation let Hopelessly Hopeful During Separation hold your hand and remind you to pause for the Holder of Hope, Jesus Himself. The short daily devotionals encourage you to look to Jesus for hope throughout this season. You are not alone. Endorsements: I was only two months old the day my father separated from my mother. Too young to recognize her tears. Too young to understand the deepening hurt as her separation turned into divorce. I wish my mom would have had Mollie’s book. I wish you didn’t need it. But if you’re in that emotional “no man’s land” that is too often separation, this is unlike any book I’ve ever read. I’ve never seen a book specifically for this painful, confusing season that is so personal. So real. So faith encouraging, yet so hard to read in places because of its honesty. But important to read. Not all at once. But day after tough day. Twenty-eight days of hope, reality, and encouragement. Full of hard-earned wisdom. Like Mollie says, “You’re not alone.” May the Lord reveal for you a path to health, healing, and life over the next four weeks and beyond. John Trent, Ph.D. President, StrongFamilies.com Author of LifeMapping and co-author of The Blessing God has a purpose for us. Our trials and troubles result in suffering which the apostle Paul in Romans 5:3-4 says causes us to “grow in perseverance.” In Mollie’s devotional, Hopelessly Hopeful During Separation, she reveals stories about how faith can be strengthened through the trial of a relationship gone south. Leveraging her God-given gifts, she shows how you can conquer that failure. Mollie is now using her personal testimony as an inspiration to others. Her writing inspired me as I went through a divorce twenty-five years ago, so I understand her pain. This devotional will continue to be a place for me to go to for encouragement. Diane Paddison Founder and Executive Director of 4word Author of Work, Love, Pray and Be Refreshed...a year of devotions for women in the workplace and Former Global Executive Team of two Fortune 500 and one Fortune 1000 companies Separation is a state of limbo in which you are vacillating between hopeful and hopeless. All kinds of feelings, questions, and confusion arise. These devotionals from true-life stories reveal that you are not alone and that can provide you a community of hope—hope that is found in the Lord. Book excerpt: "Creating Earth was our greatest mistake." Azariah created the universes. Alive since the beginning of all time, he is the ancestor of humankind. But he punished humans long ago, banishing them from space in the Great Separation. But now space is collapsing. An unknown toxin suffocates Azariah's precious worlds. Now Azariah's young daughter, Dinah, is a growing celestial body whose own might is increasing. But is her new strength a threat, a weapon designed by her vicious mother to destroy him? Why does Dinah want so desperately to visit the River Keeper, a fallen Scion who fought against him, long banished to desolate Earth? There is one way to find out. On Earth, Hope Casey fights to survive against her growing enemies. But Hope also sees it -- the poison in the air, a pollutant escaping from humans. How is she connected to these star people from another world? And will this dark poison cost Hope her life? In this science fiction coming of age saga, Harry Potter meets black-ish.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All my life included feeling awkward, not fitting in, low self-esteem, bullying, mental illness, arson, theft, vandalism, special education, depression, marijuana addiction, alcoholism, drug abuse, sexual promiscuities, suicide, encounters with the law, accidents, illnesses, and more. The different paths taken over the years led me down an even more destructive cycle experiencing despair, loss of meaning, fear, and insanity. I finally realized for myself that I had a huge problem. No longer did I feel any doctor, medicine, or drug could ever help me manage anything in my life. My chance at any future was hopeless. The last little bit of power I thought within me was extinguished. There were a few horrible ways this could have ultimately ended. Luckily, I found the road to recovery including the 12 steps. This part of my story explains in great detail the very beginning of my new life and the first five years afterward. That takes me to the point of writing this book. Doing this was my way of expressing gratitude and trying to carry a message to others who feel alone and without hope like I once did. There is hope!

Book excerpt: Extreme weather events, droughts, floods, shifts in precipitation and temperature patterns, melting glaciers, sea-level rise, water salinization, and more generally, changes in the water cycle remind us that the climate crisis is mostly a water crisis. Perhaps even more serious is a crisis of imagination connected with thought and with creative, far-sighted action able to combine the visionary and the pragmatic. A response to these two crises can be provided by the disciplines of landscape architecture: these have always featured a plural, collective approach that comprises or originates from living systems and natural forces, on the involvement of human and nonhuman communities in the design process, and the inclusion of the time variable in future plans—without neglecting the necessary flexibility of creative and pragmatic thinking. How can landscape design and different forms of collaboration open new doors to face climate and water challenges? What hopes can spring from collective design in its broader meaning? This book sets out notions and ideas on water landscapes and (co)designed practices, identifying what hopeful routes might be taken for the three states of aqueous landscapes in transition—liquid, solid, and gas. The chapters show different scales and levels of design and collaborative practices: from large and governmental projects to small bottom-up interventions; from creative collaboration among designers to traditional community design; from participatory processes to nature as a co-designer for tackling the climate crisis. People, animals, plants, water, ice, fog, clouds, wind, sand, and rocks—all contribute to the cosmos’ landscape symphony, and designing together can become a seed of hope to listen and embrace the Earth’s climate changes.
