Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Oata Analysis and Synthesis (CINOAS) * at Purdue. University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all con cerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an interna tional publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Cor poration of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 33 (thesis year 1988) a total of 13,273 theses titles from 23 Canadian and 1 85 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 33 reports theses submitted in 1988, on occasion, certain univer sities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Book Laser Photoionization Spectroscopy

Download or read book Laser Photoionization Spectroscopy written by Vladilen Letokhov and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Laser Photoionization Spectroscopy discusses the features and the development of photoionization technique. This book explores the progress in the application of lasers, which improve the characteristics of spectroscopic methods. Organized into 12 chapters, this book starts with an overview of the fundamentals of the method for atoms and molecules. This text then examines the photoionization spectroscopy, which is based on the laser resonant excitation of particles into high-lying quantum states that are easy to detect by ionization. Other chapters explain the various basic schemes of multistep excitation, which can be used for resonance photoionization of molecules. This book discusses as well the different applications of the resonance photoionization technique in atomic and molecular spectroscopy. The final chapter considers the two well-known types of microscopy, namely, wave and corpuscular. This book is a valuable resource for chemists, physicists, analysts, and geochemists who are interested in laser spectroscopy techniques to solve nontrivial problems.

Book Laser Excited Fluorescence Photoacoustic and Photoionization Detection of Polyaromatic Hydrocarbons and Drugs

Download or read book Laser Excited Fluorescence Photoacoustic and Photoionization Detection of Polyaromatic Hydrocarbons and Drugs written by E. Voigtman and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Methods of enhancing the spectral selectivity for identification and quantitation of molecules in complex systems, such as polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in environmental samples or drugs in biological materials, are mentioned. The major emphasis concerns the description of the instrumentation and analytical figures of merit for a three-mode cuvette and a three-mode flow cell detection system based upon fluorescence, photoacoustic, and photoionization detection. The instrumental system consisting of a laser (nitrogen [N2] laser or N2-dye laser), the cell assembly, and the detection system is briefly described for all three modes for each type of cell. Limits of detection for the three modes are given and compared for several selected molecules. A model five-compound mixture is separated by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and detected with the three-mode flow detector. The mechanism of the photoionization detection is briefly discussed.

Book Studies of Photoionization in Liquids Using a Laser Two photon Ionization Conductivity Technique Potoionization of Pyrene Fluoranthene and TMPD in Liquid N pentane

Download or read book Studies of Photoionization in Liquids Using a Laser Two photon Ionization Conductivity Technique Potoionization of Pyrene Fluoranthene and TMPD in Liquid N pentane written by and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One-photon ionization studies of solute molecules in a liquid medium are limited by the absorption of the host medium. A laser two-photon ionization (TPI) technique using a frequency tunable dye laser has been developed, whereby the photoionization threshold of a solute molecule was determined from the induced conductivity in the liquid medium under study due to electron-ion pair formation via two-photon ionization of the solute. The two-photon induced electron-ion current is measured as a function of the laser wavelength, lambda/sub laser/. In this paper, results are reported and discussed on the photoionization of N, N, N', N'-tetramethyl-p-phenylenediamine (TMPD), pyrene and fluoranthene in liquid n-pentane (n-Pt).
