Book Nordic Entrepreneurship Islands

Download or read book Nordic Entrepreneurship Islands written by Reffstrup, Tilde and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2017-02-21 with total page 383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The pilot project Nordic Entrepreneurship Islands addresses the educational and new business venture challenges on seven selected Nordic islands. The project also addresses the opportunities and potential arising from an increased focus on entrepreneurship education and startup capital for student startups on the islands. The current state of the seven Nordic islands is described through a mapping of the existing spread of entrepreneurship education at the upper secondary and tertiary education levels. This is followed by a presentation, in the form of an informed forecast, of what the future could look like. Each island forecast is given as the possible percentage increase in students receiving entrepreneurship education, student startups receiving a Micro Grant, and the annual costs involved with the attainment of these increases during a five-year period, from 2015/2016 to 2020/2021.

Book Carbon leakage in the Nordic countries

Download or read book Carbon leakage in the Nordic countries written by Næss-Schmidt, Helge Sigurd and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2019-05-02 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Carbon leakage is a situation in which a policy-induced reduction in CO2 emissions domestically is followed by increased emissions abroad. We investigate from a Nordic perspective what industries are at risk of carbon leakage. We find that aluminum and copper, basic iron and steel and paper, all having energy intensities over 40 per cent, have the highest risk of carbon leakage. The policy of giving free emissions allowances to industries at risk of carbon leakage is relatively equally spread out, leaving industries at high risk “undercompensated” and industries at low risk “overcompensated”. We find that the leakage rates for the energy intensive industry from unilateral ambitious EU targets could be as high as 70%, and even as high as 85% if the Nordic countries unilaterally adopt more ambitious targets. The key to limit the risk of carbon leakage is collective global action.

Book Dutch Asiatic Trade 1620 1740

Download or read book Dutch Asiatic Trade 1620 1740 written by Kristof Glamann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present monograph has grown out of a good many years of study of the history of the European trade to the East Indies. The starting-point actually was Danish. Having treated the history of the Danish Asiatic Company during the period 1732-1772 I went abroad in order to familiarize myself with the background to the reorganization of Danish trade about 1732. It was especially the possible connexion with the dissolved Ostend Company and the counter-measures, diplomatic as well as economic, of the Dutch, English, and French companies that interested me. Through these investigations I got acquainted with the various Northwest European company records and soon realized that the Dutch archives offered a rich material, especially as regards quantities and prices. A study on the Dutch Company's trade in Japanese copper, a subject which had previously occupied Scandinavian historians in con nexion with the question of the status of Swedish copper on the European market in the 17th century, amplified my knowledge of the archives in the Hague to such a degree that I dared to tackle the greater object of giving a description of the Company's trade as a whole during its heyday. On various points it proved to be necessary to make comparative in vestigations, especially in the English East India Company's archives in London.

This book was released on 2023-12-21 with total page 649 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whether through gig work, remote work, or platforms such as Uber, new technologies are reshaping the very fabric of employment relations. This handbook offers a comprehensive, international overview of how institutions, countries, and legal systems are responding to the technological disruption of the work world. Chapters outline the reform agendas driven by the International Labour Organization and the European Union and detail the public policy debates, litigation, and legal reforms that technological innovation has triggered around the world. This volume provides a post-pandemic assessment of how digitalization is affecting employment and employment relations and contextualizes current technological disruption with a long-term view of how labour and employment law could evolve further.
