Book Kaash Silence Of Broken Hearts

Download or read book Kaash Silence Of Broken Hearts written by Kaashian Baliarsingh and published by Puffins Publishers Private Limited. This book was released on 2021-06-10 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kaash: Silence of Broken Hearts is the journey of Kaash: The Monster, a neat and clean wolf in sheep's clothing. He's handsome and charming, but something in his past has made him abide by a different set of rules. He hides behind a human-seeming face, tracks down cheaters and on the nights when the moon is loudest kills them. Later, he hangs them in public after extracting their hearts out. He is on the side of Truth and Justice. Still a monster, of course, but he takes an extra-long shower after every killing, letting the cold water wash away all impurities from the body and mind. And, after a fresh shower, he is again the tall dark handsome, happy-go-lucky, quirky Kaash.

Book POST INDEPENDENCE INDIA 1947 2022 A PERSPECTIVE

Download or read book POST INDEPENDENCE INDIA 1947 2022 A PERSPECTIVE written by R. S. Ahuja and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2023-03-09 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: POST-INDEPENDENCE INDIA (1947-2022)—A PERSPECTIVE is the story of the nation’s challenges, failures, turmoil, and of her weathering all storms to emerge as a stable secular democracy, thwarting the pressures of the powerful countries. The perspective portrayed here is based on the author’s personal experiences and observations of major events and processes substantiated by extensive readings on the subject. The book details India’s trials and triumphs since her independence 75 years ago. It has been a checkered saga in realizing the dream of uplifting the fate of a population of over a billion people with diverse religions, faiths, beliefs, languages, cultures. All while constantly facing two not so friendly neighbors – Pakistan and China, threatening along the western and northern borders. Far from a textbook of history, this book would be of interest to both - the Indian diaspora growing up around the world, and to anyone curious about the Indian subcontinent’s multidimensional history. The narration is set in the backdrop of Undivided India’s struggle for freedom after 190 years of British domination and the socio-political realities of the pluralistic nation of India. It showcases the fight for independence and the Partition of 1947 that created two nations—India and Pakistan, the latter breaking up again to create the nation of Bangladesh in 1971.

Book excerpt: ‘In times like these, truth is perhaps the only justice we can have, the only vengeance we can wreak.’ Blood drips from the pellet-stricken eyes of young Kashmiri men as Oubaid watches insurgency and violence rip through the streets of his homeland. A voice in his head tells him he knows who brought this plague upon them. But acknowledging it would mean that he must relive the horrors that have been inflicted on those he loves... Yet the voice will not leave Oubaid alone, and as he reluctantly confronts his past, there emerge four echoes of a story, narrated by four childhood friends – a youth caught in conflict, the daughter of a social climber, the son of a moneyed landlord and a militant. As their tales diverge and coalesce, they unravel a truth that is not always the sum of its parts – one that reveals the full tragedy of a people buffeted by circumstance and desperately seeking salvation. A taut, searing reflection of our times, The Plague upon Us announces the arrival of an arresting new voice in contemporary fiction.

Book Jihad as Grand Strategy

Download or read book Jihad as Grand Strategy written by S. Paul Kapur and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2017 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Islamist militants based in Pakistan have played a major role in terrorism around the world and pose a significant threat to regional and international security. Although the Pakistan-militant connection has received widespread attention only in recent years, it is not a new phenomenon. Pakistan has, since its inception in the wake of World War II, used Islamist militants to wage jihad in order to compensate for severe political and material weakness. This use of militancy has become so important that it is now a central component of Pakistani grand strategy; supporting jihad is one of the principal means by which the Pakistani state seeks to produce security for itself. Contrary to conventional wisdom, the strategy has not been wholly disastrous. It has achieved important domestic and international successes, enabling Pakistan to confront stronger adversaries and shape its strategic environment without the costs and risks of direct combat, and to help promote internal cohesion to compensate for its weak domestic political foundations. Recently, however, these successes of Pakistan's militant strategy have given way to serious problems. The militant organizations that Pakistan nurtured over the decades are increasingly exceeding its control; continued support for jihad diverts scarce resources from pressing domestic projects, impeding the country's internal development; and the militant campaign's repeated provocations have led India to adopt a more aggressive conventional military posture. As Paul Kapur shows in Jihad as Grand Strategy, these developments significantly undermine Pakistani interests, threatening to leave it less politically cohesive and externally secure than it was before. Thus, despite its past benefits, the strategy has outlived its utility, and Pakistan will have to abandon it in order to avoid catastrophe. This will require not simply a change of policy, but a thoroughgoing reconceptualization of the Pakistani state.
