Like many today, Joseph lived in a "blended family" with 11 brothers, all but one from different mothers. Strife, jealousy, and rivalry dominated his childhood. Along the way, Joseph fell victim to others' bad choices. But his faith in the One True God and His sovereign plan provides an epic story of redemption, salvation, and restoration. His story can help students navigate the twists and turns in their lives. Through diligent, inductive study they will learn how to rise above their circumstances and live victoriously through the power of knowing that God is with them. . . even when their dreams are shattered. Students will focus on Genesis 37-50 and learn life-altering truths about God's sovereignty in the midst of adversity, how to handle injustice, and how a young man and woman can keep their ways pure.

Book But God Meant It for Good

Download or read book But God Meant It for Good written by Ronnie McBrayer and published by Smyth & Helwys Pub. This book was released on 2008 with total page 107 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What will you find in the story of Joseph? Jealousy, deception, injustice, forgiveness, redemption. We read about his dysfunctional family and feel the corkscrew turns of deceit and rivalry. We experience with him a crippling, sudden stop when he is alone and abandoned in a Middle Eastern prison. Then the speed in which he rises to the seat of world power takes the air from our lungs. Through it all, and sometimes in spite of it, God faithfully brings Joseph's life to its intended destiny. Ronnie McBrayer's exploration of Joseph's story helps readers find themselves in these often overlooked pages of the Old Testament. However, this is not a "how-to" book. There are no keys for successful living or catchy alliterated principles to revolutionize your life. But readers who are trying to make sense of their lives, who are wondering what God is doing in some faraway heaven, or who feel that the chaos of life has little meaning, may discover a clue to what God is doing in their lives.

  • Pages : 176 pages

Download or read book Total Surrender written by Matthew Terrill and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2014-04 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why is it such a struggle for us to surrender everything to God? What does surrendering to God even look like and how are we supposed to do it? Why is it so hard for us to live the life that Jesus died to give us? Is life really supposed to be one constant struggle after another? One of the hardest things to do in life is to let go, giving God everything and never looking back. Laying it all down, never picking it up is the only way we can walk through this dark unfair world shinning and burning brightly for Jesus. Wanting control over our lives is the struggle that many Christians face and the turmoil of that fight is constantly lurking deep in our hearts. For many know what to do, but few actually do it: surrender. When a person holds onto frustration, bitterness, and the injustices of life their pain slowly evolves into chains that hold him down, disabling him to walk through life with peace, love, joy, and compassion. The only way to truly live is to die to our selfish nature every day and cast all of our burdens at the feet of Jesus.

Download or read book The Life of Joseph written by Rev. M. van Beek and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2023-06-29 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nineteen sermons of the beloved Rev. M. van Beek see the light in this volume. It was possible by the way of a tape recording to preserve these preached sermons and it is now possible to publish them after the death of the minister who preached them. You should therefore take into account that these sermons come to our attention more in a preaching style than in a written style. Yet, this often makes the reading or the listening to these sermons more pleasant. However, this does not take away that these published sermons are very attractive as far as the history is concerned, because it is remarkable that this history always fascinates the children and young people. But yet, it is not only the historical part of Joseph's life that is brought to our attention in these sermons; theses sermons also have a spiritual content. The way in which the Lord deals with His people is clearly brought to to out attention too. Joseph is also clearly pointed out to us as a type of Christ in these sermons. Rev. F. Mallan Alblasserdam, NL.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Moses to Jesus, so many heroes of the Bible had to endure some type of wilderness season in their life, a time of testing that was painful to endure but ultimately brought glory to God. In Wilderness Skills for Women, rising author/speaker Marian Jordan sees the same thing happening today as she and her friends still find themselves going through periods of isolation, temptation, sorrow, and waiting. Whether it’s relationship drama, the constant pull of our sinful nature, a health issue, or any variety of unmet dreams, Jordan turns readers to God’s Word as the ultimate wilderness survival guide. Conversational and self-deprecatingly confessional in her delivery, this young writer finds ways to have fun with delicate subject matters, using wilderness analogies to great effect in chapters titled "Drink Plenty of Water," "Seek Shelter," and "Don’t Eat the Red Berries."

Download or read book The Master s Indwelling written by Andrew Murray and published by . This book was released on 2020-08-04 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The apostle here speaks of two stages of the Christian life, two types of Christians: "I could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ." They were Christians, in Christ, but instead of being spiritual Christians, they were carnal. "I have fed you with milk, and not with meat, for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet are ye able, for ye are yet carnal." Here is that word a second time. "For whereas"-this is the proof-"there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while one saith, I am of Paul, and another, I am of Apollos, are ye not carnal?" Four times the apostle uses that word carnal. In the wisdom which the Holy Ghost gives him, Paul feels: -I can not write to these Corinthian Christians unless I know their state, and unless I tell them of it. If I give spiritual food to men who are carnal Christians, I am doing them more harm than good, for they are not fit to take it. I cannot feed them with meat, I must feed them with milk. And so he tells them at the very outset of the epistle what he sees to be their state. In the two previous chapters he had spoken about his ministry being by the Holy Spirit; now he begins to tell them what must be the state of a people in order to accept spiritual truth, and he says: "I have not liberty to speak to you as I would, for you are carnal, and you cannot receive Spiritual truth."
