Do we really know why it's important to recycle and the consequences of not doing it? What environmental impact does our behavior have? What trends will prevail in waste management during the next decade? Far from being a technical book, Stop Garbage introduces us to the field of waste and recycling in a clear and enjoyable way. It deals with garbage or waste, whatever you want to call it, but in it you will also find a kidnapping, a destroyer, successes, food waste, the biggest dump in the world, the first incinerator, questions about money and employment or riddles: how many times can you fill the Camp Nou Stadium with one year's waste? Book The Zero Waste Chef

Download or read book The Zero Waste Chef written by Anne-Marie Bonneau and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2021-04-13 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: *SHORTLISTED for the 2021 Gourmand World Cookbook Award* *SHORTLISTED for the 2022 Taste Canada Award for Single-Subject Cookbooks* A sustainable lifestyle starts in the kitchen with these use-what-you-have, spend-less-money recipes and tips, from the friendly voice behind @ZeroWasteChef. In her decade of living with as little plastic, food waste, and stuff as possible, Anne-Marie Bonneau, who blogs under the moniker Zero-Waste Chef, has preached that "zero-waste" is above all an intention, not a hard-and-fast rule. Because, sure, one person eliminating all their waste is great, but thousands of people doing 20 percent better will have a much bigger impact. And you likely already have all the tools you need to begin. In her debut book, Bonneau gives readers the facts to motivate them to do better, the simple (and usually free) fixes to ease them into wasting less, and finally, the recipes and strategies to turn them into self-reliant, money-saving cooks and makers. Rescue a hunk of bread from being sent to the landfill by making Mexican Hot Chocolate Bread Pudding, or revive some sad greens to make a pesto. Save 10 dollars (and the plastic tub) at the supermarket with Yes Whey, You Can Make Ricotta Cheese, then use the cheese in a galette and the leftover whey to make sourdough tortillas. With 75 vegan and vegetarian recipes for cooking with scraps, creating fermented staples, and using up all your groceries before they go bad--including end-of-recipe notes on what to do with your ingredients next--Bonneau lays out an attainable vision for a zero-waste kitchen.

Book Green Jobs for Sustainable Development

Download or read book Green Jobs for Sustainable Development written by Ana-Maria Boromisa and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-06-26 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A ‘green economy’ must be built on ‘green jobs’ - the kind of employment that is low carbon, intended to reduce energy use and expected to restore environmental quality. But attempts to define exactly what a ‘green job’ is have led to varied and often contradictory answers. There are many unresolved questions including whether we consider jobs in the nuclear fuel industry to be green jobs? Or is a worker at a glass making company which supplies the glass for the solar photovoltaic industry doing a green job given that glass making is a ‘dirty’ industry? This book deals with the relationship between "green" concepts (green jobs, green economy, green growth) and sustainable development. It examines to which extent creation of green jobs supports overall economic development as opposed to creation of elitist jobs and greenwashing. In order to do so, general conceptual frameworks for green jobs, green economy, green growth and green policy are presented as well as their implementation in ten countries selected among the Group of Twenty. The selection includes advanced (the European Union, the United States of America, Australia, Canada, Republic of Korea, Japan) and developing countries (Mexico, China, Turkey and Brazil). The analysis presented in this book shows that although green concept is well-intentioned, its implementation depends on local circumstances – economic, political and social. Developed countries perceive green growth as a way to create new markets and demand, while developing countries rely more on labor intensive growth and less expensive green jobs. Thus, greening the economy does not diminish differences between rich and poor. This book is suitable for those who study and work in Ecological Economics, Sustainable Development and Labor Economics.

Download or read book What Is the Impact of Green Practices written by Tamara Thompson and published by Greenhaven Publishing LLC. This book was released on 2016-02-09 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Consumers have long been encouraged to reduce, reuse, and recycle, but environmental awareness has come a long way since the first Earth Day in 1970. Blue trash bins are everywhere the eye can see, and consumers know they have places to put certain materials to make a helpful impact on waste management. People are reminded in stores, restaurants, and other places that they can reuse items, or reduce waste by using items sparingly. This book examines what effect, if any, practicing the "three R's" has had on the planet, giving readers both sides of the topic.
