Book Now It s My Turn

Download or read book Now It s My Turn written by Mary Cheney and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2006-05-12 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who is Mary Cheney? In the most eagerly awaited political memoir of the season, Mary Cheney, who served as a top campaign aide to her father, the vice president, presents a behind-the-scenes look at the high-intensity world of presidential politics and talks for the first time about her life, her family, and her role in the campaigns of 2000 and 2004. As a senior adviser to her father, she was in the middle of every major event of the 2000 and 2004 presidential contests -- at the conventions, the debates, and on the trail. Both elections made history -- and so did Mary. And for the first time ever, she writes about what it was like to be at the center of her father's campaigns as his daughter, as a member of the senior staff, and, though she never intended it, as a political target for the other side. Mary, her experiences, and her opinions, have been the subject of intense debate in the media and from activists on both ends of the political spectrum, but she has never spoken publicly about herself, her life, or her political views -- until now. In Now It's My Turn, a frank, funny, and down-to-earth memoir, Mary Cheney describes life inside the bubble of a national campaign. She talks about her close relationship with her parents, how it feels to be pursued by the press, and what it was like when John Edwards and John Kerry made her sexual orientation an issue in live debates televised to millions of Americans. As she describes it, life inside a presidential campaign can be uplifting, frustrating, and heartbreaking, but no matter what else it may be, it's always entertaining.

Download or read book My Turn written by Doug Henwood and published by Seven Stories Press. This book was released on 2016-07-05 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hillary Clinton is running for the presidency with a message of hope and change. But, as Doug Henwood makes clear in this concise, devastating indictment, little trust can be placed in her campaign promises. Rigorously reviewing her record, Henwood shows how Clinton's positions on key issues have always blown with the breeze of expediency, though generally around an axis of moralism and hawkishness. Without a meaningful program other than a broad fealty to the status quo, Henwood suggests, "the case for Hillary boils down to this: she has experience, she's a woman, and it's her turn."

Book The Dysfluency Resource Book

Download or read book The Dysfluency Resource Book written by Jackie Turnbull and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a comprehensive resource book for treating adults who stammer. Completely revised and updated to take account of current practice, this new edition draws together the latest information on therapy for adults along with practical examples of exercises, tasks and activities that can be used for both individual and group programmes. With new chapters and therapy ideas, this is an extremely useful resource for all speech & language therapists and students working with adults who stammer. This useful resource seeks to explain techniques for treating people who stammer and the rationale for their use. This volume forms a catalogue of treatment options from which clinicians may choose to use all of the techniques or pick out particular sections according to their clients' special requirements. The first edition of this book proved to be a very useful tool for speech and language professionals, and this new edition has come about largely because clinicians, speech and language therapists and teachers have requested it. With the inclusion of 50 photocopiable handouts and the presentation of the chapters in the order they would use with their own group programmes, the authors set out the principles of therapy in such a way that the treatment techniques fit into a clear management approach. Trudy Stewart is a specialist in dysfluency and has been a service manager since 1986. She studied in America and obtained her PhD in 1991. Jackie Turnbull retired from SLT in July 2009 after 40 years in the profession, over 35 of which were spent as a specialist in dysfluency, working with children and adults. She also worked for many years as a staff counsellor in a large hospital. The collaboration that has grown up between the two of them has sparked further study in stammering. Together they have developed a highly creative clinical practice which has national recognition.

Download or read book The Book of Life Secrets for Today s World written by Rai Flowers and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2021-05-09 with total page 483 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Book of Secrets is a unique manuscript that aims to help its reader focus on different mindful thoughts for each day of the year. Each day's entry includes a focus point and that point is emphasized and supported by specific citations from The Bible. The author hopes to invite the reader to explore different aspects of their life, and to find meaning and support for that exploration through God's words. Each day is structured with a thought starter, and at least one Bible reference to support the idea that this thought starter is not unique, but rather something that originates from God's words. The format of this manuscript is engaging. The daily entries give the reader a new thought to ponder each day. The inclusion of a Bible citation further solidifies the importance of that thought, and gives the reader the motivation to think deeply about that prompt, as well as feel comfort knowing that God's words support this thought.

Book excerpt: Peggy and Molly Gainsborough--the daughters of one of England's most famous portrait artists of the 1700s and the frequent subject of his work--are best friends. They spy on their father as he paints, rankle their mother as she manages the household, and run barefoot through the muddy fields that surround their home. But there is another reason they are inseparable: from a young age, Molly periodically experiences bouts of mental confusion, even forgetting who she is, and Peggy instinctively knows she must help cover up her sister's condition. When the family moves to Bath, it's not so easy to hide Molly's slip-ups. There, the sisters are thrown into the whirlwind of polite society, where the codes of behavior are crystal clear. Molly dreams of a normal life but slides deeper and more publicly into her delusions. By now, Peggy knows the shadow of an asylum looms for women like Molly, and she goes to greater lengths to protect her sister's secret. But when Peggy unexpectedly falls in love with her father's friend, the charming composer Johann Fischer, the sisters' precarious situation is thrown catastrophically off course. Her burgeoning love for Johann sparks the bitterest of betrayals, forcing Peggy to question all she has done for Molly, and whether any one person can truly change the fate of another.

Book Singing Games in Early Modern Italy

Download or read book Singing Games in Early Modern Italy written by Paul Schleuse and published by Indiana University Press. This book was released on 2015-06-08 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Italy during the late cinquecento, printed music could be found not only in the homes of the wealthy or the music professional, but also in lay homes, courts, and academies. No longer confined to the salons of the elite, music took on the role of social play and recreation. Paul Schleuse examines these new musical forms through a study of the music books of Italian priest, poet, and composer, Orazio Vecchi. Composed for minor patrons and the wider music-buying public, Vecchi's madrigals took as their subjects game-playing, drinking, hunting, battles, and the life of the street. Schleuse looks at how music and game-playing allowed singers and performers to play the roles of exemplary pastoral characters and also comic, foreign, and "rustic" others in ways that defined and ultimately reinforced social norms of the times. His findings reposition Orazio Vecchi as one of the most innovative composers of the late 16th century.

Download or read book It s Our Turn Now written by Mario Murillo and published by Charisma Media. This book was released on 2023-02-07 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How can we ever hope for the world to get better if we keep limiting what God can do? After reading this book, you will step up with courage to be a part of the hope that the world needs against a destructive culture. God has called you to be a witness of light in the middle of the darkness, and you will obey Him with boldness and integrity. Everyone living on the planet today has a front-row seat to the failure of communism, socialism, and immorality. People are sick to death of the fabrications, lies, control, and tyranny. Mario Murillo draws on his recent experiences in California, where his ministry is experiencing souls being saved at a rate that surpasses even what was seen during the Jesus movement of the 1960s and '70s. It's accelerating, and Murillo believes it's a worldwide trend that has us poised for an unprecedented opportunity as the body of Christ. We must seize this moment! In It's Our Turn Now, Murillo explains why now is the time for Christians to do the following: Explain why everything man has taught us is bankrupting our morals and our souls Display the supernatural with integrity and clarity that we've not seen before Answer directly the questions that are truly on the hearts and minds of the human race We are no longer the remnant. There are millions of us, and it's time to stop believing the false reports and listen to what people around us are feeling. We have the answers a hungry world is dying for. Only the gospel of Jesus Christ can deliver us, and only the church can change the world through its power. It's our turn to step up and stop limiting God.
