Book excerpt: Discusses the most advanced techniques for diamond growth Assists diamond researchers in deciding on the most suitable process conditions Inspires readers to devise new CVD (chemical vapor deposition Ever since the early 1980s, and the discovery of the vapour growth methods of diamond film, heteroexpitaxial growth has become one of the most important and heavily discussed topics amongst the diamond research community. Kobashi has documented such discussions with a strong focus on how diamond films can be best utilised as an industrial material, working from the premise that crystal diamond films can be made by chemical vapour disposition. Kobashi provides information on the process and characterization technologies of oriented and heteroepitaxial growth of diamond films.

Book Fundamental Studies of Chemical Vapor Deposition Diamond Growth Processes

Download or read book Fundamental Studies of Chemical Vapor Deposition Diamond Growth Processes written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are developing laser spectroscopic techniques to foster a fundamental understanding of diamond film growth by hot filament chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Several spectroscopic techniques are under investigation to identify intermediate species present in the bulk reactor volume, the thin active volume immediately above the growing film, and the actual growing surface. Such a comprehensive examination of the overall deposition process is necessary because a combination of gas phase and surface chemistry is probably operating. Resonantly enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) techniques have been emphasized. A growth rector that permits through-the-substrate gas sampling for REMPI/time-of-flight mass spectroscopy has been developed. 7 refs., 2 figs.

Book Diamond Thin Films An Emerging Technology Past Present and Future

Download or read book Diamond Thin Films An Emerging Technology Past Present and Future written by Ashok Kumar Dua and published by Trans Tech Publications Ltd. This book was released on 2004-08-08 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Diamond, as well as being a precious gem, is a versatile material par excellence. No other material comes anywhere near to matching its properties, which are both extreme, and also expressed in rare combinations. However, natural diamonds, and those synthesised under high sandpressure temperatures, are too expensive or small for many technological applications. These limitations can be overcome by using large-area diamond coatings; chemically bonded to inexpensive non-diamond surfaces. The consequent economic advantages provide the driving force for much diamond-related research and technology.

Download or read book Growth Kinetics of 100 110 and 111 Homoepitaxial Diamond Films written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Diamond film growth by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) has burgeoned rapidly during the past decade, accompanied by considerable progress in fundamental understanding. Particular progress has been made in understanding chemistry taking place in the gas phase above the substrate and in identification of the precuror(s) primarily responsible for growth, but the details of reactions taking place on the growing surface are as yet unknown. However, despite the commercial importance of high growth rates and the potential for gaining insight into the details of the growth mechanism, only a handful of studies of the growth kinetics of polycrystalline diamond films have been reported.
