This volume will help readers gain insight into the possible strategic choices and the mutual competitive strength within the future aviation market. - Contains contributions from well-known aviation scholars - Includes numerous cases studies throughout that explore a wide range of topics - Focuses on applied knowledge, with clearly structured chapters examining topics from a global perspective - Addresses the ongoing consequences of COVID-19 on the air transportation industry, examining potential strategic responses in the event of subsequent pandemics

Book The Impact of EU Law on the Regulation of International Air Transportation

Download or read book The Impact of EU Law on the Regulation of International Air Transportation written by Martin Bartlik and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-12-05 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On 5 November 2002, the European Court of Justice delivered its 'open-skies' judgment, a landmark decision which may be the beginning of a new era in the regulation of international air law. The consequences of this judgment may not only affect the European Union and its Member States; this book shows how it could change the future regulation of international aviation worldwide. The first part of this book describes the difficulties arising from the fact that the competence for the regulation of air transportation in Europe is divided between the EU and the Member States. This division of power will also affect the conclusion of air-service agreements made with countries outside of Europe. In the second part of the book, the author examines a subject that was not part of the 'open-skies' judgment, but which he believes will become a problematic consequence: the distribution of air-traffic rights within the European Union.

Book EU Policies in a Global Perspective

Download or read book EU Policies in a Global Perspective written by Gerda Falkner and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-11-20 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent decades have seen a rise in the significance of governance layers beyond the nation state and even Europe. Nonetheless, few efforts have been made thus far to systematically examine the EU’s interaction with global policy regimes. This book maps the relative importance of EU policies in the multi-level global governance system, in comparison with national and global activities. It provides a unique comparative analysis of the EU’s capacity for projecting its policies outward. Focusing on trade policy, agriculture, food safety, competition, social rights, environmental policy, transport, migration, nuclear non-proliferation, or financial regulation, each chapter contributes to a better understanding of the EU’s role in shaping global policies, the mechanisms it uses and the conditions leading to success or failure. The contributors’ comparative research highlights that policy export is a demanding phenomenon that faces severe limitations and frequently comes with drawbacks. Still, EU policy export played a key role in shaping the rules of the global trade regime and influenced global policy outcomes – at least to a minor extent or in technical aspects – in the majority of the covered policy areas. Overall however, this book reveals that the EU not only aims to export its policies, but interacts with its global environment in a number of distinct ways, including policy import and policy protection, to shield it from global pressures. Concluding with a comparison of all policies on the meta-level and relevant policy recommendations, this book will be of interest to students, scholars and practitioners of European politics, European public policy, global governance and international relations.

Book The Principles and Practice of International Aviation Law

Download or read book The Principles and Practice of International Aviation Law written by Brian F. Havel and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2014-03-31 with total page 463 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an introduction to, and demystification of, the private and public dimensions of international aviation law. The air transport industry is not governed by a discrete area of the law but rather by a series of disparate transnational regulatory instruments. By combining classical doctrinal analysis with insights from newer disciplines such as international relations and economics, the book maps international aviation law's complex terrain for new and veteran observers alike.
