This book was released on 2017-10-19 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Inscriptions From the Two Ancient Cemeteries of Palmer, Mass With thy rude ploughshare, Death turn up the sod, And spread the furrow for the seed we sow; This is the field and acre of our God, This is the place where human harvests grow. One of the sad necessities connected with the settling of every town is the earlv setting apart of the sacred acre, where, cooner or later, the great majority must find rest after the work of life is done. And so it happened here, for on the'26th of April, 1729, death claimed Moses, the son of the pioneer John King, who first consecrated the ground set apart by the free con sent of those who settled early in the precincts of our village, as we find no account of any action on the part Olf the town con nected with it. No stone marks the place of the first burial, not of many others who soon followed. The oldest headstone in the cemetery bears this inscription: Here lies the body of Jerusha, (laughter of Capt. Nathaniel Vose of Milton, and wife of Andrew Mackee, who died Mav 22, 1732, 30 years of age. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
