Book excerpt: .....Men, misusing free will, built destructive weapons, violating the sacred laws of God and forgot also the saints' commands, seeding, thus, through thoughts and acts, disasters and earthquakes that will be accompanied by the nuclear catastrophe, will culminate with the end of this chaotic world. Less than one million people will remain alive on earth, and most will be mutilated begging to die, and death in principle won't hear them. GOD our Father, only Lord of heaven and earth, will be glorified during the next thousand years. There won't be a single human person on earth that does not recognise His omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence. All will undergo a spiritual juxtaposition process and remain faithful to Him, fulfilling what I said there nearly two thousand years: The day will come when there will be one flock and one shepherd' (John 10: 16). Those elected and their descendants will not want political disputes, territorial or religious, all will run together with the thought towards one ideal. The fraternity effectively exists between men who, stripped of the hypocrisy, hatred, malice, selfishness and emotional blackmail, are committed to meet the saints' commandments. The prisons will be turned into schools, because in the future, purified men in suffering and crime will evolve extinguished. Medicine will evolve and will cure the ills that torment the body in mind, because, after much suffering and errors, humanity becomes aware that all the weaknesses and all physical ailments are always early in the disease of the Soul. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Derived from the renowned multi-volume International Encyclopaedia of Laws, this convenient resource provides systematic information on how Brazil deals with the role religion plays or can play in society, the legal status of religious communities and institutions, and the legal interaction among religion, culture, education, and media. After a general introduction describing the social and historical background, the book goes on to explain the legal framework in which religion is approached. Coverage proceeds from the principle of religious freedom through the rights and contractual obligations of religious communities; international, transnational, and regional law effects; and the legal parameters affecting the influence of religion in politics and public life. Also covered are legal positions on religion in such specific fields as church financing, labour and employment, and matrimonial and family law. A clear and comprehensive overview of relevant legislation and legal doctrine make the book an invaluable reference source and very useful guide. Succinct and practical, this book will prove to be of great value to practitioners in the myriad instances where a law-related religious interest arises in Brazil. Academics and researchers will appreciate its value as a thorough but concise treatment of the legal aspects of diversity and multiculturalism in which religion plays such an important part.

Book New Religious Movements in Europe

Download or read book New Religious Movements in Europe written by Johannes Aagaard and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: RENNER Studies on New Religions is an initiative supported by the Danish Research Council for the Humanities. The series was established to publish books on alternative spiritual movements from a wide range of perspectives. The books will appeal to an international readership of scholars, students, and professionals in the study of religion, theology, the arts, and the social sciences. It is hoped that this series will provide a proper context for scientific exchange between these often competing disciplines. Stimulated by travel, mass media and education, individuals have spent the twentieth century questioning organized religion, and at the start of a new millennium, many are turning to spirituality rooted in ancient practice, but modernized by secular experience. In this volume, an international group of authors surveys the religious and spiritual movements growing in popularity in Western Europe including (to name a few) theosophy, Transcendental Meditation, the Rosicrucians, the Occult, and Hare Krishna.

Book excerpt: Since the dawn of film in the 1890s, religious themes and biblical subjects have been a staple of cinema. One of the earliest focuses of screen presentations was the Bible, especially the New Testament and the Gospels. In Screen Jesus: Portrayals of Christ in Television and Film, Peter Malone takes a close look at films in which Jesus is depicted. From silent renditions of The Passion Play to 21st-century blockbusters like The Passion of the Christ, Malone examines how the history of Jesus films reflects the changes in artistic styles and experiments in cinematic forms for more than a century. In addition to providing a historical overview of the Jesus films, this book also reveals the changes in piety and in theological understandings of the humanity and divinity of Jesus over the decades. While most of the Jesus films come from the United States and the west, an increasing number of Jesus films come from other cultures, which are also included in this study. Fans and scholars interested in the history of religious cinema will find this an interesting read, as will students and teachers in cinema and religious studies, church pastors, parish groups, and youth ministry.
