Book The Star Gate Archives

Download or read book The Star Gate Archives written by Edwin C. May and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2018-11-02 with total page 631 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Star Gate is the largest funded program in the history of psi research receiving about $19.933 million in funding from 1972 to 1995. Researchers from SRI International, and later at Science Applications International Corporation, in association with various U.S. intelligence agencies participated in this program. Using the remote viewing method, research focused on understanding the applicability and nature of psi in general but mostly upon informational psi. Volume 1: Remote Viewing (1972-1984) and Volume 2: Remote Viewing (1985-1995) include all aspects of RV including laboratory trials and several operational results. Volume 3 focuses on laboratory investigations on psychokinesis. Volume 4: Operational Remote Viewing: Government Memorandums and Reports includes an analysis of the applied remote viewing program and a selection of documents that provide a narrative on the behind the scenes activities of Star Gate. In a total of 504 separate missions from 1972 to 1995, remote viewing produced actionable intelligence prompting 89% of the customers to return with additional missions. The Star Gate data indicate that informational psi is a scientifically valid phenomenon. These data have led to the development of a physics and neuroscience based testable model for the underlying mechanism, which considers informational psi as a normal, albeit atypical, phenomenon. The Star Gate data found insufficient evidence to support the causal psi (psychokinesis) hypothesis.

Book Economic Psychology and Experimental Economics

Download or read book Economic Psychology and Experimental Economics written by Simon Kemp and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-08-21 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The last ten years have seen an enormous surge of interest in issues that are common to psychology and economics. How do people make decisions about economic issues? How should they make such decisions? Does public policy or regulation succeed in its aim of helping people make these decisions? What situations aid cooperation? This volume explores some of the ways in which economists and psychologists have tried to answer these questions. The authors are an international mix of economists and psychologists, and as such they demonstrate a diverse range of approaches to tackling different aspects of these issues. This is a frontier area for both psychology and economics, and consequently it is relatively free, lawless and, above all, exciting. This collection reflects the diversity and energy that characterise this rapidly growing interdisciplinary field. This book was originally published as a special issue of New Zealand Economic Papers.

Book excerpt: A second edition of a popular guide to scientific and technical communication, updated to reflect recent changes in computer technology. This guide covers the basics of scientific and engineering communication, including defining an audience, working with collaborators, searching the literature, organizing and drafting documents, developing graphics, and documenting sources. The documents covered include memos, letters, proposals, progress reports, other types of reports, journal articles, oral presentations, instructions, and CVs and resumes. Throughout, the authors provide realistic examples from actual documents and situations. The materials, drawn from the authors' experience teaching scientific and technical communication, bridge the gap between the university novice and the seasoned professional. Every chapter of the book reflects these changes. Book Health Information in a Changing World

Download or read book Health Information in a Changing World written by W. Bernard Luckenbill and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2010-06-14 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This holistic guide explains how school librarians and teachers can successfully integrate relevant health concepts and life skills throughout the curriculum for students K through 12. In the United States, convenience food and soft drink-based diets, increasingly sedentary lifestyles, and obesity have become common in youth culture. The importance of health education merits integration throughout school curricula; unfortunately, research shows that many teachers do not feel prepared to teach health issues within their subject areas. This book will encourage all librarians and teachers—no matter their specific area of instruction—to include health lessons in their teaching. Health Information in a Changing World: Practical Approaches for Teachers, Schools, and School Librarians provides a complete action plan for librarians and teachers who want to provide better health information to students and their caregivers. It contains an extensive discussion of teaching health within curriculum areas such as literature, history and biography, art, science and mathematics, industrial technology, and agriculture. Tips on accessing and evaluating health information in print and electronic media are presented, as well as practical suggestions for effective instructional methods, including ideas on conducting demonstrations, field trips, speaker programs, and online distance education. New findings regarding teaching effectiveness assessment are also presented.
