Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to provide the dental student with a description of all the gross, neurological, and developmental anatomy (apart from that of the dentition itself) necessary for the practice of dentistry and its major specialities. It is designed primarily as a textbook for the undergraduate student who is pursuing a practical course in topographical anatomy but contains enough detail for the postgraduate dentist reading for additional qualifications. Greatest emphasis is placed on those regions and topics which are of importance to the practising dentist. Thus, a major part of the book is devoted to the structure, function, development, and growth of the oral cavity and its surroundings which form the anatomical basis of much of dentistry. Outside the dental region those aspects of anatomy which are necessary for an understanding of the general morphology and function of the body are stressed. Wherever possible adult human structure is explained on developmental or comparative grounds. Clinical applications are included when these stem directly from anatomical structure. In this second edition the section on neuroanatomy has been extensively revised and updated. In addition, many of the illustrations are now in colour. A full glossary and index are included.
