Book How to Sell Toothpaste

Download or read book How to Sell Toothpaste written by Leonie Thorpe and published by HarperCollins Australia. This book was released on 2012-08-01 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When your dad consistently 'out cools' you on your own turf, you need to take the battle back onto his ... even if that means battling it out over toothpaste! Dom has left school and is about to launch into the real world. All his friends have their futures mapped out, but Dom is distinctly lukewarm about the prospect of doing a degree in science. Before he has to commit, however, there is the holiday job painting his dad's offices. Dad is an award-winning creative in an ad firm, with possibly his greater success being his ability to look younger - and way, way cooler - than his 17-year-old son. Annoyed that his dad has beaten him to the stud earring, the Maori-design bicep tatt, and the wardrobe, Dom decides to take on his dad on his own turf - an ad campaign. How hard can it be? It's only selling crap to losers, after all. How hard can it be? try getting creative over toothpaste! Ages:12+

Book America Brushes Up

Download or read book America Brushes Up written by Kerry Segrave and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2014-11-29 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This excursion into American cultural history looks at the toothpaste and toothbrush industries from 1900 to 2008. During these years, America moved from cleaning their teeth mostly with homemade powders to using an enormous array of brands, often applied with an electric toothbrush. From early 20th century products like Forhan's (which "cured" pyorrhea) to the whiteners of the 1920s (which unfortunately also removed tooth enamel), and from paste that eliminated "that clinging film" and to copywriters who "wondered where the yellow went," the history of toothpaste has long been a testament to the power of misleading advertising. Interrupting a steady flow of hyperbole was the one true wonder ingredient--fluoride, which enabled Crest to be for decades America's top-selling brand.

Book Reluctant Capitalists

Download or read book Reluctant Capitalists written by Laura J. Miller and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2008-09-15 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past half-century, bookselling, like many retail industries, has evolved from an arena dominated by independent bookstores to one in which chain stores have significant market share. And as in other areas of retail, this transformation has often been a less-than-smooth process. This has been especially pronounced in bookselling, argues Laura J. Miller, because more than most other consumer goods, books are the focus of passionate debate. What drives that debate? And why do so many people believe that bookselling should be immune to questions of profit? In Reluctant Capitalists, Miller looks at a century of book retailing, demonstrating that the independent/chain dynamic is not entirely new. It began one hundred years ago when department stores began selling books, continued through the 1960s with the emergence of national chain stores, and exploded with the formation of “superstores” in the 1990s. The advent of the Internet has further spurred tremendous changes in how booksellers approach their business. All of these changes have met resistance from book professionals and readers who believe that the book business should somehow be “above” market forces and instead embrace more noble priorities. Miller uses interviews with bookstore customers and members of the book industry to explain why books evoke such distinct and heated reactions. She reveals why customers have such fierce loyalty to certain bookstores and why they identify so strongly with different types of books. In the process, she also teases out the meanings of retailing and consumption in American culture at large, underscoring her point that any type of consumer behavior is inevitably political, with consequences for communities as well as commercial institutions.

Book Learn 2 Invest Kid

Download or read book Learn 2 Invest Kid written by Pavi Toor and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2023-11-20 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We wrote Learn 2 Invest Kid with the intention of helping people become hopeful about their financial future. The idea for the book stemmed from our own need to raise money for Young Guns Weightlifting and Boxing Club, a free award winning youth club created in 2019. When the pandemic arrived the non-profit sector was hit especially hard. Funding from businesses and government was reduced or halted, fundraising galas were banned and traditional fundraising activities such as selling our protein donuts directly to the public were not allowed. Our club also had trouble obtaining funds so we decided to invest in dividend-paying stocks, freeing ourselves from having to apply for government grants and other funding. It worked. The goal of this book is to help readers learn about investing in blue chip dividend paying stocks. There are two ways to make money off stocks: Capital Appreciation and Dividends. Did you know that some companies, such as Canadian banks, have consistently paid their dividends for over 150 years? As dividends increase the share price typically follows. We try to make this process easy to understand. Within the pages of this book, investment concepts are broken down and analyzed; successes and failures are discussed; and research and patience are emphasized. Many examples are used to help prepare the reader for the bumpy road of investing. With simple language and using superheroes as examples, we have found a unique way of presenting complex investment ideas that make it easy for the reader to understand. Learn 2 Invest Kid will help readers gain confidence and show that investing in stocks is viable way of creating personal wealth. Unfortunately, this is not taught in schools.
