Book New Age Vikings Volume 1

Download or read book New Age Vikings Volume 1 written by Elisabeth Haug and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A must for every horse lover regardless of breed orientation. "The Icelandic Horse is just like any other breed, except more so" says author/photographer Elisabeth Haug. "I have chosen the Icelandic to star in the book because he so clearly embodies the traits we all love and admire in the horse-beauty, charisma, kindness, gentleness, courage, power, swiftness, and intelligence." Elisabeth has the gift of making her photography come alive. She loves horses, people, and nature. Her photographic adventure leads you on a horseback journey across modern Iceland. It gives you a strong feel of the beauty, and culture of this small, unique country that in the beginning of time was tossed carelessly into the middle of the Atlantic. Adventurous Vikings braved the angry seas about a millennium ago to settle the island. Bringing their families, their livestock and their chattel, they sailed into the unknown in open Viking ships. .

Book Wild Horses of the Summer Sun

Download or read book Wild Horses of the Summer Sun written by Tory Bilski and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2019-05-07 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A wondrous story of adventure and friendship featuring a group of women who ride Icelandic horses. "Blame it or praise it, there is no denying the wild horse in us." - Virgina Woolf Each June, Tory Bilski meets up with fellow women travelers in Reykjavik where they head to northern Iceland, near the Greenland Sea. They escape their ordinary lives to live an extraordinary one at a horse farm perched at the edge of the world. If only for a short while. When they first came to Thingeyar, these women were strangers to one another. The only thing they had in common was their passion for Icelandic horses. However, over the years, their relationships with each other deepens, growing older together and keeping each other young. Combining the self-discovery of Eat, Pray, Love, the sense of place of Under the Tuscan Sun, and the danger of Wild, Wild Horses of the Summer Sun revels in Tory's quest for the "wild" inside her. These women leave behind the usual troubles at home: illnesses, aging parents, troubled teenagers, financial worries and embrace their desire for adventure. Buoyed by their friendships with each other and their growing attachments and bonds with the otherworldly horses they ride, the warmth of Thingeyrar's midnight sun carries these women through the rest of the year's trials and travails. Filled with adventure and fresh humor, as well as an incredible portrait of Iceland and its remarkable equines, Wild Horses of the Summer Sun will enthrall and delight not just horse lovers, but those of us who yearn for a little more wild in everyday life.

This book was released on 2013-05-22 with total page 61 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite the fact that horse-based tourism is very popular on the high-impact recreational activity, this research field was given only little attention so far. Although, motivation theories have been related to jobs and tourism in general, little is known about the target groups of equestrian tourists. The purpose of this study is to investigate in how far Landsmot becomes responsible for the German Icelandic horse community's motivation to visit Iceland. Thereby, an emphasis is placed on the individual's motivation that decides about the visit to Landsmot, and the resulting impact on their final travel decision. To identify correlations between tourist motivation and destination choice, the study is based on a cross-sectional explanatory research purpose, using a mixed-model research method which consists of a survey and an archival research. In order to answer those research questions, a questionnaire was developed which comprises responses from 222 German Icelandic horse community members. Overall, this study provides a background, and status quo for further specific investigations that concern the travel behaviour of the Icelandic horse community in Germany.
