It reports in detail on the large assemblages of material found during the excavations at mounds 2 and 2A. There is important evidence for craft activity, such as bone and antler working and this includes the only comb making workshop from a rural settlement in Britain. A large proportion of the copper alloy, bone and antler assemblages comprise pieces of personal adornment and provide important information on the dress and thereby social relations within the settlement occupation. There is a large assemblage of iron tools and fittings, which provides important information on the activities taking place at the settlement. The information derived from the artefact assemblages is complemented by that provided by the ecofactual material. Large amounts of animal, fish and bird bones plus carbonised plant remains provide detailed information on agricultural practices, and the processing, preparation and consumption of foodstuffs. It is clear that the Norse inhabitants of the settlement had access to a much richer variety of resources than had been exploited before the Viking colonisation of the region. The settlement also had a significantly wider range of connections; material culture indicates contacts to the south with the Irish Sea ports and Bristol, and to the north with Shetland and the Viking homelands of Norway. The evidence produced by these excavations is exceptional and provides an unparalleled opportunity to explore medieval life in the Scandinavian kingdoms of Western Britain.

Method Mag, as it was dubbed, was not just one of the very first snowboard websites, but one of the earlier websites in general, published not long after the first images appeared on the nascent web. Drawing inspiration from California's Heckler Magazine, Eriksson and Hagman set out to document snowboarding and its culture as they were experiencing it on the ground, which often stood in contrast to the polished press that populated major media at the time. Zigzagging across Europe with a carload of equipment, fashioning impromptu dark rooms in hotel bathrooms, hacking fax lines and constructing myriad other mobile workarounds, the pair published near real-time coverage and content in their unfiltered Gonzo style, bringing to life a media outlet as spontaneous and raw as the riders and scenes it covered. Perhaps more importantly, the website's then-cutting edge flairs, like open forums and a commenting feature, brought the burgeoning global snowboard community together like never before. Over the next two and a half decades, Method evolved through numerous changes in format, ownership, location and staff, consistently pushing the conception of what a snowboard magazine could be and what it could deliver. But its journey was a tumultuous one, even by snowboard media standards. Many of the more highly evolved relationships that have been studied involve microorganisms, either in consort with other microorganisms or with so-called higher forms of life. Mycologists are rarely surprised-but often fascinated-by the variety of kinds of living substrates and specialized organismal relationships that evolutionary processes have produced among the fungi. The present book deals in some detail with the specialized dependence of a unique group of fungi, the trichomycetes, upon certain arthropods. There has been no comprehensive and worldwide treatment of the tri chomycetes since their discovery by Joseph Leidy in 1848. The literature is scattered and in several languages, and many articles are now not only a bit old but out of date as well. As in many areas of biology, our knowledge about trichomycetes has increased somewhat exponentially in recent years.
