Book History and Genealogy of the Stackpole Family Classic Reprint

Download or read book History and Genealogy of the Stackpole Family Classic Reprint written by Everett S. Stackpole and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-17 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from History and Genealogy of the Stackpole Family Fulness and accuracy of dates have been sought. Saving a few typographical errors, there is good evidence for every date given. The records of many towns and churches have been searched. Wills, deeds and public documents have yielded as sistance. Hundreds of letters have contained items of informa tion. Only a few persons could not be prevailed upon by the utmost diplomacy to answer repeated inquiries. Any reader who notices an error or can furnish further information is requested to notify the author. The first publication of a work of this kind is necessarily incomplete. It brings to light facts that otherwise would remain hidden. The author suggests the printing of an annual report of the Reunions together with cor rections, additions, and such historical facts of interest as the future of the family may develop. Thus an edition in some future year may be more complete. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. This book was released on 2018-02-06 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Genealogical History of the Scripps Family and Its Various Alliances The notable facts concerning every member of the family are given where in their characters or achievements anything notable is known. It cannot fail to be noticed how large a part the family have borne, in a modest way, in the history of the past century and a half, and particularly in the development of our own western country. A directory of the names, places of residence and occupation of all living members of the family will be found in the later pages of the book. Blank pages are provided at the end of the volume for the continuation of the record in manuscript. I trust they will be used, and urgently request that transcripts of all such additional records be sent to me for the perfecting from time to time of my own copy. Where so many members of the family have interested them selves to aid me with information, it would be invidious to single out any for special acknowledgments. My sincere thanks are due to all who have in any way aided me in the work. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Upton Family Records: Being Genealogical Collections for an Upton Family History By this time the writer's collection of Upton data had become so extensive and valuable that the thought of its possible destruction, by fire or other casualty, afforded him considerable uneasiness, it being evident that much of it, once lost, could never be duplicated. This feeling increased when, upon the death of Colonel Chester in 1882, America forgot her pride, and England her gratitude, and permitted his incomparable collections to be scattered to the four winds of heaven; Colonel Chester's contribution constitutes about thirty-six pages of the most valuable matter in this volume.
