Book Applied Many Body Methods in Spectroscopy and Electronic Structure

Download or read book Applied Many Body Methods in Spectroscopy and Electronic Structure written by D. Mukherjee and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There has been a steady advance of the atomic and molecular many-body methodology over the last few years, with a concomitant development of versatile computer codes. Understanding and interpretation of electronic structural features and the associated spectroscopic properties via many-body techniques are becoming competitive with those obtained with the traditional formalisms. Since the many-body techniques are not yet a part of the repertoire of the "black-box tools" of electronic structure and spectroscopy, it seems worthwhile to take stock now of the recent progress in certain selected areas. The present volume is more in the nature of proceedings of a "Paper Symposium," rather than of one which actually took place. We did organize in Calcutta, between December 10 and 12, 1990, a small meeting on Applied Many-Body Methods to Spectroscopy and Electronic Structure, jointly organized by the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science and the S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences. Several leading practitioners were invited, among which some could not come for various reasons.

Book Analytical Chemistry Proceedings Of The Jsps nus Joint Seminar On Analytical Chemistry

Download or read book Analytical Chemistry Proceedings Of The Jsps nus Joint Seminar On Analytical Chemistry written by S B Khoo and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1990-03-01 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The JSPS/NUS Seminar on Analytical Chemistry is part of an ongoing exchange programme to promote direct contact between scientists from Japan and Singapore. This programme also provides avenues for scientists to present new research findings and discuss areas of mutual interest. Mostly in the area of Analytical Chemistry, 28 scientific papers were presented in this seminar, of which 12 were by Japanese scientists and 16 by Singapore scientists. Since the seminar was aimed at encouraging participation from a broad spectrum of analytical chemists, it was not confined to specialised topics. Instead, a wide range of analytical techniques were discussed, including electrochemical, spectroscopic and separation methods.

Book Biographies of Scientists for Sci Tech Libraries

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, first published in 1991, is an invaluable guide to biographies of scientists from a wide variety of scientific fields. The books selected for this highly descriptive bibliography help librarians shatter readers’ stereotypes of scientists as monomaniacal and uninteresting people by providing interesting and provocative titles to capture the interest of students and other readers. The biographies included in this very special bibliography were carefully selected for their humour and human insights to give future scientists encouragement, inspiration, and an understanding of the origins of particular scientific fields. These biographies are unique in that they explore the whole personality of the scientist, giving students a glimpse at the variety and drama of the lives beyond well-known contributions or Nobel prize accomplishments.
