Book Markets without Limits

Download or read book Markets without Limits written by Jason F. Brennan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-08-20 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: May you sell your vote? May you sell your kidney? May gay men pay surrogates to bear them children? May spouses pay each other to watch the kids, do the dishes, or have sex? Should we allow the rich to genetically engineer gifted, beautiful children? Should we allow betting markets on terrorist attacks and natural disasters? Most people shudder at the thought. To put some goods and services for sale offends human dignity. If everything is commodified, then nothing is sacred. The market corrodes our character. Or so most people say. In Markets without Limits, Jason Brennan and Peter Jaworski give markets a fair hearing. The market does not introduce wrongness where there was not any previously. Thus, the authors claim, the question of what rightfully may be bought and sold has a simple answer: if you may do it for free, you may do it for money. Contrary to the conservative consensus, they claim there are no inherent limits to what can be bought and sold, but only restrictions on how we buy and sell.

Book excerpt: Although the Russian Gov't. (RG) generally respected the human rights of its citizens in some areas, serious problems remain in many areas, such as Chechnya. Despite the continued wide diversity of press in Russia, RG pressure on the media increased and resulted in numerous restrictions on the freedom of speech and press. The RG does not always respect the Constitutional provision for equality of religions and for citizens' freedom of movement. Violence against women and abuse of children remained problems, as did discrim'n. against women, persons with disabilities, and ethnic minorities. Trafficking in persons, particularly women and young girls, was a serious problem.

Book Derecho procesal laboral

  • Author : José María Obando Garrido
  • Publisher : Temis
  • Release : 2019-03-19
  • ISBN : 9583514829
  • Pages : 426 pages

Download or read book Derecho procesal laboral written by José María Obando Garrido and published by Temis. This book was released on 2019-03-19 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Social Work Education

Download or read book Social Work Education written by Noble, Carolyn and published by Sydney University Press. This book was released on 2013-05-16 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Social work and social development in the Asia-Pacific region continue to grow in new and exciting ways. Social work educators are an essential part of shaping social work and development. In this second edition we hear four new voices, from Cambodia, Fiji, Japan and Vietnam, together with revised and updated chapters from social work educators in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Nepal, and New Zealand. Summaries of each chapter are included in Chinese, Japanese and Korean, as well as in the first language of the author. Despite the astonishing diversity of languages, cultures, philosophies, religions, economic systems and ways that social work is taught and practised in the region, social work in the Asia-Pacific is becoming more internationally cohesive. At the same time it maintains strong foundations in its local contexts. In an increasingly globalised world, international social work belongs in every 21st-century social work curriculum. While this book does not provide all the answers, it will help educators and practitioners ask better questions.

Drawing on research approaches that take account of subjectivity and employ participative methods, the authors develop an approach to practice for the research- minded practitioner. Whilst useful for practitioners wanting to do research, the primary intention of this book is to explore ways in which practitioners may be research-minded in their work.

Book Social Work Education and Practice Scholarship and Innovations in the Asia Pacific

Download or read book Social Work Education and Practice Scholarship and Innovations in the Asia Pacific written by Nikku Bala Raju and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Social work as a body of knowledge is and should be in a constant state of dynamism. No region, theory or model should claim exclusivity to the profession and new ideas viz-a-viz 'innovations' have to be viewed as adding to the richness of that body. In writing this book the authors aim to highlight how important it is, across the globe, to advance society via the classroom. The book's editors argue that one has only to summon the courage to challenge existing and dominant paradigms and models to begin to enhance the field of social work. This book shares a range of innovations that are taking place in schools of social work in universities in the Asia Pacific region. The book focuses on exemplifying innovation in social work and its associated scholarship.
