They experience a little heartache and soon start a family. Their love is strong, and life is wonderful until that fateful day that everything changes. Her fault? Maybe. His fault? Possibly. Does it matter? How do they cope? More tragedy befalls the couple. They endure it though, and eventually, life is great again until the unthinkable happens. How is it possible? Will there be peace? Will they have a happy ending or a new beginning? Perhaps . . . but then again, perhaps not.

Book excerpt: This is a collection of short stories mostly from my childhood growing up in Central Florida. Most of the stories are true and my characters are real. However, I have included some stories that have just enough truth to keep it real and just enough embellishment to keep it entertaining. I began writing these stories as a journal of sorts to be able to pass on to my children and grandchildren some stories of my childhood. After I wrote five or six, I thought I had exhausted all my memories. However, as I wrote, one memory led to another, and another, and so on. I had always been convinced that my childhood had been relatively insignificant. As I took the opportunity to look back on my childhood through the eyes of a man in his 60's, I slowly began to realize I had a great childhood. I just didn't realize it at the time. You see, neglected to ask my grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and siblings enough questions to really get to know them. I knew what their adult lives were like, but I now wonder what their childhood was like. As I wrote, I would post on Facebook Group pages for my hometown, which was the Winter Haven/Auburndale area. The stories seemed to hit home with many folks, and I was encouraged to assemble my stories into a book. I also created a few videos about growing up and I have included links to those in the ebook edition.

Book excerpt: "This book examines the ways that Atlantans have remembered the Civil War since 1865. During the Civil War, Atlanta became the second most important city in the Confederacy, after Richmond. Since the end of the war, Atlanta's civic and business leaders promoted its image as a 'Phoenix City' rising from the ashes of General William T. Sherman's wartime destruction. According to this carefully constructed view, Atlanta respects its Confederate past while also moving forward with business growth and 'progress.' Yet in spite of its economic success since 1865, Atlanta is a city where the meaning of the Civil War continues to be debated and contested, where whites and blacks remember the war in different and conflicting ways. Periodically, racial tension has marred the city's reputation and its progressive spirit. Today, Atlanta (and the South) have achieved reconciliation with the North but debate over Civil War memory is ongoing"--

Book excerpt: With hundreds of rare pictures, this award-winning volume captures the many architectural gems that North Carolina's Port City has lost from the colonial period to the present day. Some were lost to natural disasters like fires and hurricanes. Others fell victim to the "progress" of Urban Renewal or the sometimes short-sightedness of private developers. Regardless of how or why these buildings were torn down and lost, they represent pages ripped from the community's collective history. Preservationist Beverly Tetterton has assembled a collection of lost places that serve as cautionary tales for modern planners and citizens.

Book excerpt: THIS SOBER LIFE is a poetic look into the mind of a young man as he struggles with his addiction to alcohol. As Dave Breslin opens the door to sobriety he spills his heart into each line he writes and displays his honest emotions on to the page from his lowest points to where he stands two and a half years later. Like each day of soberiety, each poem helps build and surface the true person behind the disease giving him the strength to battle through his addiction and severe depression. Watch as this seemingly never-ending path of confusion, denial, anger, pain and loss brings this man to the realization of himself as a totally new person ready to take on a whole new life.
