Book excerpt: Lovable loner Casey Isaac thinks love isn’t for him. Not since extraordinary events left him with supernormal powers and a great deal of trauma. But when Oscar Kenzari looks at him, he can’t help but change his mind. As Divinators, Casey and Oscar have used their psychic powers to defend humanity from sentient, extradimensional storms for one hundred years. But a storm more powerful than any before is brewing. MaalenKun, prince of the maelstrom, conqueror of countless realities, plans to turn the tables by infecting Casey’s mind. MaalenKun is not the only threat. Casey and Oscar must determine who they can trust: the eccentric trillionaire keeping them in the dark, the independent contractors with secrets of their own, or a seemingly helpful extradimensional being shrouded in mystery. As Casey works to defeat threats around and within himself, he must open to love for his chosen family, for Oscar, and for himself to unlock a transformative power capable of banishing MaalenKun. And Oscar must make a difficult choice that could cost him the future he dreams of. Can Casey and Oscar’s love break the storm?

Many of these men and women paid the ultimate price for their faith. Celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, Godspeed is a 365-day devotional that features the words of prominent reformers, including Martin Luther, William Tyndale, John Calvin, and others, thoughtfully illuminated by best-selling author David Teems with both historical precision and charm. Godspeed: Voices of the Reformation possesses a startling relevance for today’s reader, offering a word of hope and comfort. The reformer’s voice is clear and bright and comes to us with the authority of heaven.

Book The Loving Living Will of God to His People

Download or read book The Loving Living Will of God to His People written by Dale Neumann and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2022-11-03 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I got the title The Loving, Living Will of God to His People for this book in 1994, and it details the God of the Old Testament in the Christian Bible and the Torah, as he needs to be thought of. I believe that he should be thought of each day, as he has great powers and angels to help him. He has shown them throughout history, and he wants people to build a temple for him. He didn't like the violence on earth, and that was what caused the great flood. Think about it, water. Too much can cause a flood, and too little causes dry land, crop failures, and fires. Is this because of war situations? I don't have respect for any man who creates war. Did God create famine and disease if people wanted war? Today is May 23, 2018. On May 8, I lost my daughter to terminal cancer. I had grieved greatly before this, and I still do. She told me that she is in heaven and the pain and suffering of the body are gone. I think, Was the United States military responsible? We dropped bombs in foreign countries and killed people. Do we lose one of ours to disease? She left two children of three and five with a father, three grandmothers and other people to teach them. Can we teach our youth a better way?

Book Farewell Godspeed

Download or read book Farewell Godspeed written by Cyrus M. Copeland and published by Crown. This book was released on 2007-12-18 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Farewell, Godspeed is a remarkable collection of eulogies for some of the most notable figures of our time, delivered by the people who knew them best. In the words used to eulogize the great and celebrated men and women of the world—sometimes reverential, sometimes funny, always poignant—we come as close as perhaps we ever will to seeing the warm humanity beneath their public personas. Cyrus M. Copeland has gathered some of the greatest of these writings about artists, scientists, authors, public servants, entertainers, and others who have captured our attention by making the world a better, or at least a livelier, place. Here is Andy Warhol’s close friend describing Warhol’s hidden spirituality. Albert Einstein’s assistant recounting his humanism. Edward Kennedy remembering with a brother’s tenderness the life of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Larry McMurtry’s lively and loving tribute to Irving “Swifty” Lazar. And Robert Bernstein, longtime publisher and friend of Dr. Seuss, memorializing him with special, never-before-published verse. Also included are the eulogies of the Challenger astronauts by President Ronald Reagan; Charles Schulz by Cathy Guisewite (creator of the comic strip Cathy); Bette Davis by James Woods; Bob Fosse by Neil Simon; Lucille Ball by Diane Sawyer; Martin Luther King Jr. by Benjamin E. Mays; David O. Selznick by Truman Capote; Karl Marx by Friedrich Engels; and Gianni Versace by Madonna. In these moving and personal tributes we see at last the vulnerabilities and nuances of character that are often hidden from the spotlight, and the true personalities behind the names we remember.

Book Godspeed

Download or read book Godspeed written by Casey Legler and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2018-07-10 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A memoir for our times.” —Michael Stipe “A coming-of-age drama captured through poetic prose and convincing honesty.” —Kirkus Reviews “I swim for every chance to get wasted—after every meet, every weekend, every travel trip. This is what I look forward to and what I tell no one: the burn of it down my throat, to my soul curled up in my lungs, the sharpest pain all over it—it seizes and stretches, becoming alive again, and is the only thing that makes sense.” At fifteen, Casey Legler is already one of the fastest swimmers in the world. She is also an alcoholic, isolated from her family, and incapable of forming lasting connections with those around her. Driven to compete at the highest levels, sent far away from home to train with the best coaches and teams, she finds herself increasingly alone and alienated, living a life of cheap hotels and chlorine-worn skin, anonymous sexual encounters and escalating drug use. Even at what should be a moment of triumph—competing at age sixteen in the 1996 Olympics—she is an outsider looking in, procuring drugs for Olympians she hardly knows, and losing her race after setting a new world record in the qualifying heats. After submitting to years of numbing training in France and the United States, Casey can see no way out of the sinister loneliness that has swelled and festered inside her. Yet wondrously, when it is almost too late, she discovers a small light within herself, and senses a point of calm within the whirlwind of her life. In searing, evocative, visceral prose, Casey gives language to loneliness in this startling story of survival, defiance, and of the embers that still burn when everything else in us goes dark.

Book New Tourists Favorite Destination

Download or read book New Tourists Favorite Destination written by Gertrudes Bandong Dy-Liacco and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2019-08-27 with total page 658 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why This Book Is Unique This book reveals the paradise-like splendor found in the 7,107 islands of the Philippines and the character, nature, values, and customs of Filipinos. This book also outlines an uncomplicated but in-depth exploration of Filipino grammar to make it easier and simpler for the learner to form word and sentence constructions. The lexicon section of this book contains synonyms, correlations, similarities, and antonyms, making it more comprehensive and multifaceted than the other Filipino dictionaries in the market today. Also added in it are motivational topics and cautionary alerts. Previously and currently, most of the explanations and illustrations presented in this book have hardly been covered in other Filipino dictionaries written by other authors. The highlighting of the Spanish and English words in this dictionary can help increase proficiency or, at the least, familiarity with four languages, Tagalog, Ilocano, Spanish, and English, not to mention Bicolano, Cebuano, Ybanag, and Gaddang vocabularies that are added into this book. This book is an essential language reference book for all the libraries in the world. It also serves as a handy translation aid for foreigners doing business in the Philippines and for the foreign embassies that are based in the Philippines, as well as religious and medical missionaries, charitable institutions, language translators, tourists, foreign students enrolled in the Philippines, expatriates that settle in the Philippines, and anyone interested in learning about the Philippines and Filipino languages.

Book A Christian Theology of the Cross

Download or read book A Christian Theology of the Cross written by Allen George and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-07-29 with total page 541 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A CHRISTIAN THEOLOGY OF THE CROSS presents three basic standards for discussing the subject and object God. It underscores the connection between Gods approval of Abels offering and the establishment of the priesthood and names Genesis 4:7 as the foundation of the principal doctrines of Christian Salvation. It stresses the importance of Christian freedom and argues that the doctrine of existentialism is rooted in Genesis 4:9b. This book speaks directly to those who are spiritually hungry and thirsty for the Word of God in the twenty-first century. The reader will discover that the author is an analytical thinker. George asserts that the ambiguities of Abels offering dont negate the concept of his priesthood. He champions the belief that the doctrine of the universality of salvation is a crucial divide between Judaism and Christianity. He insists that the Gospel demands that Christians renounce their hate and intolerance.
