Book CHOICES Never Ending Dilemmas in Everyday Life

Download or read book CHOICES Never Ending Dilemmas in Everyday Life written by Arthur Asa Berger and published by Vernon Press. This book was released on 2024-01-23 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about the never-ending need we have to make choices. If you think about it, we have to decide what time to wake up every morning, what to wear (unless we need to wear a uniform), what to have for breakfast (if we eat breakfast), lunch and dinner (and if we eat in restaurants, what to order), and our need to make all kinds of other choices all day long. Some of our choices are mundane, like what to have for breakfast (if we eat breakfast): to have coffee or tea (and if so, plain or with milk), cereal, toast or a bagel (and if so, what kind: plain, with poppy seeds, with everything) or a sweet roll, eggs (if so, fried, soft boiled, scrambled), and so on. Most of the choices we make are not important, and we often develop habits to relieve us of having to think about our choices. For example, I have the same thing for breakfast every day: a bowl of oatmeal with chia seeds and flax seeds, hot milk, a cup of espresso coffee with hot milk, and half a bagel with butter. Occasionally, I have a soft-boiled egg, as well. But other choices we have to make are life-changing, such as how to live (single, living with a partner, or getting married), what kind of education to get, what kind of job or profession to choose, where to live and what kind of house to buy (if you can afford a house), whom to vote for, and so on. After reading this book, you will better understand the role that the choices we make play in society and culture and in our everyday lives.

  • Pages : 169 pages

Download or read book Word Play written by Vivian Lee Snodgrass and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2013-02 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Word Play is a riveting book regarding an interactive game played with words and God. Inside its pages are the clues to understanding the game. The desired result from playing is to know God better. This book addresses confusion generated by the daily use of words without concern for their actual meanings, more specifically, the words used by Christians. It is a book about God and not religion. Some may discover the contents of Word Play strenuous. Word Play is designed to make readers think. There is a good chance your brain will hurt while reading Word Play. If so then I fulfilled my mission. Enlightenment from critical thinking opens the gateway to the heart. When there is clarity there is understanding and where there is understanding there is power. Word Play was written as a tool to access God's power through words. It is not a book to be taken lightly. Word Play has a new and different approach for understanding more regarding the power of words. Anyone who desires to know more about this power from God should read Word Play. The lessons learned took over two decades to receive. It took almost two years to write about them. Warning: The awareness resulting from reading Word Play may be overwhelming to some. This is not a book for children.

Book The Goat that Escaped and Survived

Download or read book The Goat that Escaped and Survived written by Miss Kelly and published by The Writers Tree. This book was released on 2023-09-15 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I grew up in a Catholic family. A daughter of a Catholic Cop. While we went to church each Sunday, we never discussed the Mass on the ride and never discussed it on the ride home. The ride to Church often included Annie hollering for us to get in the car, and many times the ride included arguing, tension, and fights. I never remember my dad going with us. Well, except for that Easter Sunday when my green outfit with yellow Knee-High Socks got ruined. Typically, just my mother, brother, and sister. We were obedient Catholic kids during Mass. Images were important to Annie. We knew when to sit, stand, and kneel. When I knelt for prayer during Mass, I would always peek out to see if others were also peeking or following form. You could say that the outcome of my childhood memories of Catholic church included a tense ride to mass, mastery of Sit, Stand, Kneel, leaving mass early to beat the exiting drivers, racing home, and never speaking of the service.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Literary scholars face a new and often baffling reality in the classroom: students spend more time looking at glowing screens than reading printed text. The social lives of these students take place in cyberspace instead of the student pub. Their favorite narratives exist in video games, not books. How do teachers who grew up in a different world engage these students without watering down pedagogy? Clint Burnham and Paul Budra have assembled a group of specialists in visual poetry, graphic novels, digital humanities, role-playing games, television studies, and, yes, even the middle-brow novel, to address this question. Contributors give a brief description of their subject, investigate how it confronts traditional notions of the literary, and ask what contemporary literary theory can illuminate about their text before explaining how their subject can be taught in the 21st-century classroom."--Publisher description.

Book Alain Robbe Grillet

  • Author : John Phillips
  • Publisher : Manchester University Press
  • Release : 2019-02-08
  • ISBN : 1526141159

Download or read book Alain Robbe Grillet written by John Phillips and published by Manchester University Press. This book was released on 2019-02-08 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Placing Robbe-Grillet’s filmic oeuvre in the related contexts of both his novelistic work and the different historical and cultural periods in which his films were made, from the early 1960s to the present, the book traces lines of influence and continuity throughout his work, which is shown to exhibit a consistent preoccupation with an identifiable body of themes, motifs and structures. Close readings of all the films are skilfully combined with a thematic approach, ranging across the entire filmic corpus. The book also contains chapters on cinematography and technique. Ultimately, this lucid, comprehensive and fascinating study shows Robbe-Grillet’s contribution to the evolution of the cinematic art both in France and internationally to have been considerably more important than previously acknowledged.
